Ortovox Alaska Shovel - 2004
The Alaska Shovel is specially made by Ortovox (Europe) for an American market that demands a high quality, super strong shovel blade for avalanche rescue. Equipped with a 6000 aluminum blade and slip-resistant T handle, this is an economical shovel that will get the job done in your hour of need. Two holes in the blade and one through the T handle allow you to string up to 6mm cord for slinging the shovel. Not too teched out, but far superior to shovels with lexan and plastic blades.
Bottom Line: The Alaska is down home, no-nonsense avy gear for gringos.
