Outdoor Research Rocky Mountain Low Gaiter - 2006

The Outdoor Research Rocky Mountain Low Gaiters are a lightweight, low-profile alternative to full-size gaiters for hiking and cross country skiing. Made with durable nylon packcloth, the Rocky Mountain Low gaiters close with two buttons and a one-inch hook-and-loop strip down the front. Elastic on the top and bottom of these Outdoor Research gaiters seals them around your ankles and allows them to be used with a variety of boots. A nylon instep strap holds them securely in place and ready for a day of hiking the trails or laying some tracks in the snow.

Bottom Line: Keep your boots free of debris and snow with the Outdoor Research Rocky Mountain Low gaiters.

Great gaiters

By:
February 17, 2009

I've had mine for a couple of years now. I use them primarily during the winter time for snowshoeing and trail running. They have always done splendidly and I have had no problems with durability or quality. I particularly like the strings as opposed to the straps many gaiters have on the instep. If one of them breaks, its an easy fix.

Gaiters on prosthetics

By:
January 21, 2008

I am using the Gaiters on my prosthetic feet. Had to tape bubble wrap around the posts and put nylon socks over the feet and legs under my hiking shoes. The socks and bubble wrap give the gaiters some support. The gaiters have been working great to keep our recent deep Michigan snow out of my shoes and foot covers.
They are great quality and have great durability.

Gaitors

By:

What a sock and boot saver! If you have ever hiked the desert, you know what sticks to your socks and in your boots, it's a mess and hard to get those seeds and stickers out. These prevented everything from getting in. Worth every penny! no trouble with my snaps, but one of our guys did bust one.

Comfy gaitor, but snaps are a problem

By:
August 10, 2006

I've owned a pair of these gaiters for 15 years, and have worn them to tatters. They are uncoated fabric, which is nice for 3-season breathability, and do a bang-up job of keeping stones and dust out of my boots. I replaced them this year only to find the snaps pulled out of the material within about 4 days of continual use. Not a crisis, since the hook-and-lop-closure sticks well on it's own, but for this price I reckon they could get the snaps correct, which have never pulled out of my old pair. I've returned the new pair and will keep wearing the old ones for now. Get the S/M size for normal backpacking boots.

Good but snaps not durable

By:

Does exactly what a gaitor should do. I have had three pairs of these now and they all have broken one of the snaps snap from one end of the closure seem after only about 10 wearings.
