Nuun Bigger Nuun - 6 Pack

Tired of watering down neon-colored sports drinks to make them tolerable or carting around sticky, sugar-laced powders? Take one lightweight tube of Bigger Nuun with you on your next backcountry outing, and enjoy 12 quarts (three gallons) of hydrating H2O goodness. Bigger Nuun works like its little brother, regular-sized Nuun, except the tablets are larger, so they're ideal for long trips and use in hydration bladders (you can also break them in half if you want to dissolve in smaller amounts of water). The athletes at Nuun worked hard to create the optimal blend of electrolytes to help you perform at your best and decrease the likelihood of hyponatremia (too little sodium). Since you don't need sugar to hydrate—carry a few gels, energy bars, candy bars, or a beer for your carb needs—Nuun left that out. One six-pack holds six tubes with 12 tablets in each.

Bottom Line: It doesn't need to be bright blue to hydrate you.

nuun for electrolytes - you betcha

By: Backcountry.com Sponsored Athlete
October 26, 2008

nuun was created by an ironman triathlete who couldn't find a good way to replace electrolytes during races. if you can't stomach or don't like to bother fishing for and trying not to drop pills while you ride or run or ski, etc... then nuun is a great way to go. i race ultra distance adv races, ultras and cycling events. nuun is my one and only source of electrolyte replacement. i love the lemon lime and orange ginger flavors.

many elite athletes are now using nuun for electrolytes during races. ultra running stars karl meltzer and krissy moehl to name a couple.

it works and it's easy. it tastes good so i find i drink more of it.

This is a great a product - no sugar - just the electrolytes you need in a simple and convenient form. Avoid hyonatremia with these without filling up with empty calories - find the real food or energy bar of your choice for that.

how are these compared to oral rehydration salts? Are they the same or what is the difference?

Simple, great tasting, and takes the guess-work out for most athletes. They also have the added benefit of calcium carbonate and magnesium sulfate with can prevent and even cure that gnarly acid/upset stomach many athletes get over long distances!

i'm not familiar with oral rehydration salts. i'll assume you mean endurolytes and or salt stick pills as they are the other way to get your electrolytes while exercising. this is a tablet like an alkaseltzer or an airborn. it disolves in a couple minutes by itself in your water bottle and it has a nice refreshing taste. since it tastes good i find myself drinking more and staying better hydrated. nuun has sodium (salt), potasium and magnesium in the ratios your body typically sweats them out. the pills are just a different form factor. nuun is much easier and more enjoyable. also you don't have to stop to drink get it out. it's in your water bottle so you just keep riding or running and drink while you go. no fumbling around with pills in a little container you can't manage. i have used nuun in 100 mile ultra marathons, expedition adventure races and long endurance cylcing events as my sole source of electrolytes and it's never failed me. i love it.I used NUUN on most of the Whereskarl Appalachian trail run, I never had to use salt caps, the NUUN in my Nathan pack was all I needed for electrolytes. Not having to think about taking caps was great as my brain was fried from running 40 miles a day.

Love it

I was first introduced to Nuun by a WFR instructor two summers ago -- I love this stuff! Tastes great without being overly sweet, and it's super convenient. I use Nuun when distance training as well as on longer back-packing and mountaineering trips. Lemon-lime and orange-ginger are my faves...

I use this in my hydration pack. It's a great flavor and it keeps me drinking to keep me hydrated.
