Norrøna Svalbard Flex1 Softshell Jacket - Men's

Designed for hiking from cabin to cabin and laying down tracks in high alpine microclimates, the Norrona Men's Svalbard Flex1 Softshell Jacket delivers highly breathable, water-and-wind resistant stretchy protection. Norrona's flex1 material is a recycled, single-ply synthetic fabric with all the necessary qualities for a superior softshell layer. With one-hand adjustments for optimizing fit and comfort, the medium-fit Svalbard Flex1 Softshell Jacket makes it simple for you to make tweaks and stay on the go. Norrona also added venting and a soft chin guard so you don't have to sacrifice comfort just because you're a backcountry badass.

Amazing softshell

This may be the most versatile year round jacket I own. I have tried so many softshells over the years and none have the exceptional features and fit as this one. From the generous velcro cuff adjustments to the ginormous pit zips, Norrona did this right. Perfect for cool summer night trekking, to dead of winter xc-skiing (obviously part of a layering system -- this is NOT an insulating jacket). It sheds wind and water, breathes beautifully and moves the moisture away as well as anything I have used, great for all outdoor aerobic activity. It looks like whoever designed this garment actually uses it! Remarkable jacket. The styling could not be more sophisticated as well... I actually look good in it! Please note, this is an athletic cut (yet not restrictive), the arms are long, but the cuff adjustments make it easy to get a good snug fit. Conclusion: form and function of the highest order... a piece of art. Seriously. All this from recycled materials. This is a company to watch... these people know their stuff.

This jacket is well made with great styling. It will not keep you warm. It runs a size too small.

When the previous reviewer said it had an athletic cut, I figured, "hey, that's me." I'm 5'11, 165ish, but I had a hard time deciding between M and L. L was listed for 6-6'3, but I have a 41" chest. I also have a 33" waist, so when I looked at the sizing chart, I decided I didn't want a baggy jacket, so went with M. I should have chosen L as it was almost skin tight.
