The Norrøna Men's Lofoten Jacket isn't messing around. Its Gore-Tex Pro Shell fabric guarantees you'll stay dry while you're out there glutting on powder. This ultra-lightweight, extremely waterproof shell keeps you drier than Tupperware, but it breathes deeply so you don't feel like a clammy slab of leftover lasagna after a few laps on your splitboard. The Lofoten's long venting zips cool you down when your temperature climbs, and they also allow access to your mid-layer's pockets. Norrona's zip-seal system lets you attach this fully taped jacket to your Lofoten Gore-Tex Pro Shell Pants.
PLEASE NOTE: This garment is regular fit and runs true to size
Backcountry.com is the exclusive US distributor for Norrona products
Bottom Line: The Norrøna Lofoten Shell lets you get your fill of snow—without feeling it in your jacket.
Just got mine on Monday, XXL Olympian Blue. It's a Gore-Tex 3L Pro Shell, so you already know its guaranteed waterproof and breathable. The things that sets this jacket apart are:1) The fit: great athletic fit that still has long wide arms and a long torso. Huge hood that fits over a helmet or adjusts to smaller sizes.2) The color. The Olympian Blue is really sharp and different than than anything I've seen.3) The media pocket is designed well.4) Removable skirt, not uncommon but awesome for reducing bulk when you're not on the mountain. My only complaint is that it doesn't have handwarmer pockets. Other than that, this jacket is great and I can't wait to put it to the test.
You can use your mid layer pockets as handwarming pockets by zipping up your lower ventialtion zips in the Lofoten Pro. The jacket was constructed with this purpose.
My previous jacket was Arc'Teryx Alpha SV, and i needed a new one so i thougt i should support Norrona, and bought this shell. It has many great details and is so light! It feels thinner than the Arc' Teryx, but its at least as waterproof. Super jacket
I am 6"4' and about 220lbs. I wear a XXL Mountain Hardwear Alchemy soft shell that fits fine, and I would usually just assume I need a XXL, but I've been reading conflicting things about Norrøna's sizing. Also, the video on youtube makes this jacket look real big, and I prefer an athletic fit. Should I go for the XL?
This coat is pretty much amazing, however after only 2 weeks the lettering that says lofoten is coming off. I have all ready lost an "O" and i wouldn't really care but it is brand new and was quite spendy. I would like to return it but am afraid I won't be able to get another. Lame! Goes to show how much i like it.
I had exactly the same problem with the lofoten pro shell i bought last year. After two washes the entire "lofoten" print" was gone, and the same thing happened with the "lofoten" print on the pro shell pants. Strangely, the "norrona" print and the viking logo did not decide to abandon me. I wrote to Norrona twice and received no answer, which I found quite annoying. Nevertheless, this is a great jacket and I don't regret buying it.
Saw a 09/10 Modell of the Jacket lately in "Sulphur" and everything previously printed is now done in stitching. Bugs me slightly, they didn't decide on that a year earlier, but what the heck...
Bought a Helly Hanson Odin and the zipper popped off. Read the reviews and others are having the same issues. I am buying another brand. Is this jacket longer?
There's a great video of this jacket on youtube... search Norrona jacket. It's done by Backcountry employee Tim and shows you all the features. Also gives you a good idea of the size and fit. Worth your time if you're considering this jacket.
I bought this same jacket from backcountry.com last year and used it a few times last season. I have been experiencing some problems with zipper separation (at bottom of jacket) that see to be getting worse. I love the jacket otherwise. Do I have any chance of being able to exchange it?
You can always return or exchange anything you buy from Backcountry.com anytime! Whenever I have a problem with a product I buy here, I just send it right back and they refund me in full. That's the beauty and security of buying all your gear here!
