Nordica Blower Alpine Ski - 2007

The Fat Albert of the bomber Supercharger Line, the huge twintip Nordica Blower Alpine Skis float the pow on a huge 110 millimeter underfoot. Expert freeriders tackle the biggest lines on this Nordica plank. Drop cliffs and bomb huge big mountain lines at mach speeds on this monster. The burly wood core gives the Blower strength to charge through inconsistent snow and float out big, buttery smooth turn in the deeps. The bombproof sintered graphite Electra Gallium puts the hurt on stumps, shark fins and other below the surface nasties without missing a step. The Nordica Blower Alpine Skis turn the backcountry into your playground.

Bottom Line: This Nordica ski blows it up in the backcountry.

Great ski. I was moving to this from a Rossignol Bandit XXX. This ski is certainly more flexible and forgiving than the XXX. It's quite nimble for a ski with this much underfoot. The tip is soft-ish laterally but is quite stiff torsionally. That lets it absorb hits well and still maintain stability in crud. It is very smooth in powder but seems to have a pre-programmed medium turn shape. The tails are slightly soft for my taste but that results in a forgiving flex that doesn't punish mistakes. In spite of the flex, it handles speed without buckling. Great ski. I highly recommend it.

Not for me...

I'm 6'5" and 250, so maybe I'm not the typical ski tester, but I could not stand this ski. It was jittery and would not carve. When I pushed it caved. Even in crud with big sweepers it was unsettled. I gather it changed significantly from the '07 model.

This ski absolutely rips. I ski 100+ days a year, and spend a substantial amount of time on these boards. The flex and turn radius are perfect... stiff enough to power through crud and let the ski run on big lines, but also nimble enough to work in the trees and on groomers. If you want a big ski that can do just about everything I would buy this ski in a 185 over a legend pro rider any day. ( i can't wait to get a new pair mounted with dukes!)
