Nike Timing Imara Heart Rate Monitor Watch - 2006

The Nike Timing Imara Women's Heart Rate Monitor Watch is designed specifically for the hardcore female athlete. No longer will you have to wear a bulky men's watch when you're running and working out. The Imara Watch has a programmable heart-rate zone and an alarm to let you know when you're not performing at your peak. The Imara Heart Rate Monitor Watch includes a chest strap and tracks both your heart rate and calories burned during a workout. This Nike Timing watch also has a chronograph with a two-segment interval timer and two time-zone functions. Don't settle for some giant men's watch with accessories that don't fit when the Imara Heart Rate Monitor watch is built specifically for you.

Bottom Line: The Nike Timing Imara Women's Heart Rate Monitor Watch should be on the wrist of any serious female athlete while they're running.

1st Time HRM user

By:

I chose the Nike Imara HRM after EXTENSIVELY researching several user reviews and product descriptions/comparison charts on various websites:
I looked at Suunto HRMs b/c I use their dive equipment, but most user reviews were unhappy with the materials used and it is not water resistant like Nike's HRMs. Similarly, the other lines do not offer the versatility of Nike.
I was then torn between Nike's Imara and C6 (this site doesn't sell C6). I settled on the Imara mainly b/c of size and it's features. I am VERY happy with my purchase. It works well: it's simple to use and the charts in the manual have the same recommendations as my trainer (who also uses the old Imara). It takes a couple uses to get used to how to use it optimally with and without the zone alarm (which may bug others around you if it is turned on b/c it beeps every time you go out of your zone). You just figure out which way works best for you and set it to the right mode each use (I use different modes depending on what and where I'm working out). My trainer suggested sleeping one night with it on before training with it so that upon waking you could see your true resting heart rate.
I went back to the comparison board before doing this review to look again at the C6. They are very similar from what I can tell...still would choose the Imara.
I purchased from this site simply because they back up their products with a return policy...but I don't need to return it. Great service! Fast and reliable.

You can program cheap $5 watches to display a 24 hour clock. I'd certainly hope that a $100 watch would do the same.

Not so great monitoring the HR...

By:
November 9, 2008

I bought this watch for my girlfriend as we are both in training for a half marathon. I have a Polar RS100, and I wanted a basic women's watch that would do intervals like my Polar does. Unfortuantely there are not many that do. This Nike does intervals, unfortunately, it doesn't do a great job with tracking a heart rate. At first I thought maybe my monitor was interfering with my gf's, so I did some runs without wearing mine, and the Nike was still all over the place. Overall, I'd say I wish Polar made a basic women's watch that would do intervals- I would have bought that instead.

Like it but....

As the previous reviewer said, it's a great HRM. Unfortunately however, if you are in MY agegroup :) the heart rate display is hard to see. It would be better if you could set it so that your heart rate appeared in the top portion where the time is counting instead of beneath the time.

Awesome monitor

Love this women's heart rate monitor. The watch part is so much smaller than the others I've had and can actually be worn as a watch without looking gigantic. Everything works wonderfully and I love the "data" function. Toggle to that function after your workout and you get all the pertinent information--calories, max HR, time etc. I highly suggest this monitor. I love it!
