Necky Eliza Kayak w/ Rudder

Necky designed the Eliza Kayak specifically for women paddlers looking to tour in a lightweight, maneuverable kayak. Pull the rudder down and track smoothly through wind and waves. Pack your weekend gear into the bow and stern hatches and glide into the blue-green waters. Cut through strong headwinds thanks to the Eliza Kayak's low deck profile. Necky's molded foam touring seat keeps the blood flowing to your legs, so you don't have to worry about getting rubber-legs syndrome from sitting all day. A back band gives you lumbar support, and adjustable foot braces move to accommodate your legs. The Eliza Kayak responds well to women paddlers who bring up to 160 pounds of their pure paddling excitement to the water.

Bottom Line: Glide straight into the sunset or tuck into those deserted coves in Necky's Eliza Kayak.

neoprene covers worthless

By:
July 28, 2009

I just bought a necky eliza kayak. Haven't used it yet but I'm sure it will do what I was looking for EXCEPT, the neoprene covers are impossible to put back on once you take them off. It took my husband a half hour to finally get them back on. I'll never be able to use them. I guess I will just have to buy waterproof stuff bags and leave the covers at home.

To me this signifies very poor product design. I wonder what else I will discover once I use the boat. All other reviews I have read do not mention any problems with the covers but customer service for the distributor did mention they had several complaints.

I have a Necky Looksha 17 and thought the same thing about the neoprene covers on it. I found that the trick is to roll one end inside out and then start to put the cover on using the opposite end, slowly moving your hands along to the "inside out" end as you stretch it over the hatch openeings> It goes on fairly quickly.

To be honest, there isn't much of a difference. This particular kayak has a low deck profile meaning it will sit lower and can handle less weight (160 lbs max). Overall it weighs slightly less and the cockpit is a tad smaller than the "male version".

Maine Coast-multiday overnight Great Boat

By:
July 10, 2008

Used this boat for a 3 day tour/camping trip in coastal Maine- island to island! Loads and loads of fun!!!

Lightweight, playful, stable touring kayak. Easy rudder- just pull cord to bring up/down. I fit all my backpacking gear into this thing except for the sleeping bag, which my husband had to take. The sleep bag is only ~soccer ball sized but the hatch openings were too small to squeeze it in.

Be prepared to be creative to get all your overnight gear in. I can fit all my backpacking gear into a 1500 cu pack; I got all of it in except the sleeping bag. Don't go with Large sized drybags, go with medium and small but just use more of them. It took me quite a while to figure out a packing scheme that worked.

Overall, very sweet boat but requires a PhD to pack it. No regrets with Eliza.

amazing!!!

This boat kicks butt!! I took it down to lake Powell and toured all over and in canyons and everything. This has amazing handling and it has a better size cockpit for a women's shape. using the rudder on it this thing could turn on a dime. It has good bungees on it, I collected 45 pieces of trash in Powell and put them under the bungees as i found them. the dry storage is really good. I did not have a problem with any water coming into it at all. I had dry sacks but i do not know if i really needed them!

This is a really quick boat also. My friends were in their perception Carolinas and I was cruising past them and would turn around and come back to them and then turn around and wizz past them.

in choppy waters this performed awesome as well. It just flew through those white caps and waves. I never once felt unstable even with waves coming from the side hitting me.
