The handy little Nalgene Tritan Grip-N-Gulp is kid-friendly and practically clumsy-adult-proof. Not that you need to be particularly uncoordinated to spill your drink on your desk or car upholstery, but those with plenty of drink stains in their lives—you know who you are—will especially appreciate the Tritan Grip-N-Gulp. The twelve ounce cup is just enough to keep a few sips on hand, while the sipper valve makes sure that beverages end up in your mouth (or your kid's mouth, or pretty much somewhere besides the front of your shirt). The Tritan Grip-N-Gulp's lid loop clips easily to your backpack, handbag, or child-transporting device.
Normally we use the camelbak bottles in our house, but my six year old is a chewer and the bite valves on them do not last with her. I have used the regular nalgene bottles, but being six she does not always pay attention and often will wear a bit of the water from those if she is not careful. This one she can walk and drink her water at the same time, can't really do much damage to it (though, when I washed it I noticed a few teeth marks around the valve, but nothing that hinders its performance). She doesn't really have it laying down or just tossed in her backpack much so we haven't really had the chance to test out some of the leak issues others have had. So far, it works great for her!
This is a good bottle - definitely leak proof. However, my boys have to suck like crazy to get the water out - much more like a traditional sippy cup. I was hoping my kids could use it as a water bottle at school, but they find it too hard to drink from. We use it at home and take out the leak-stopper; it is still not so easy to drink from, but better. I like the size and ease of cleaning. Great product, but maybe better for younger kids who are used to having a sippy cup still; not older children who are looking to quickly quench their thirst and get back to playing! Backcountry is great!
Nalgene is a very easy company to work with. They have quite a few replacement parts. I needed a cap for one of my HDPE bottles. I called their 800 number , told them my situation, & they mailed me a new cap within days.http://www.nalgene-outdoor.com/store/
I love the grip n gulp, we have always had nalgenes and when I found out I could get one for my daughter I was thrilled! It has NEVER leaked... not even when she shakes, bangs, or throws it! After about 6 months you have to buy new stoppers... and that only like 2 dollars for 2 or 3 of them!
I had a nalgene grip and gulp and it wasnt BPA free. are these new? when I was looking they said all their grip and gulps contained BPA chemicals. So is this new or what gives? tara
This is the new Nalgene without BPA, it came out not that long ago.Nalgene now has bottles made with Tritan, as does the Titan from Jared Joyce (www.titanwaterbottle.com) and the Camelbak better bottle (www.camelbak.com). BPA free materials are limited in the market and very expensive so bottle companies will probably continue to make bottles containing BPA..such as the grip and gulp. The Camelbak Better Bottle in .5 liter is also a fantastic alternative to this (also BPA free).http://www.backcountry.com/store/CAM0257/CamelBak-Better-Bottle-w-Bite-Valve-5L.html?RSC_ID=WR_CAM0257
I bought these for my 3 yr old twins to take in their new lunch boxes to preschool. I put apple juice in them and they are leaking if it gets turned upside down even before we get out the door. With 3 yr olds you can count on it getting upside down fast. Am I putting the stopper wrong? It looks pretty simple. So no, I am not happy with these, as apple juice is a pain to clean out of the corners of the lunch boxes. But I seem to be in the minority.
Really good Water bottle, my son loves it! Its easy for a 5-6 year old to get water out of it, however it might be a little difficult for a smaller child. It works great.
my 15 month old loved it! great for road trips, never had to worry about it leaking. only complaint, there seems to be a bit of design flaw. the eye-hole on the lid shouldn't be as pronounced as it is. my daughter likes to drink water like she's doing shots of tequilla, so we found that eye-hole (which you can clip a 'biner to) was alway up against her nose when she was sipping from it. we just had her drink from it with that side down against her chin, and i think the same flow was achieved.
I purchased 3 grip n gulp for my 3 boys. They love them!!! We take the water bottles everywhere we go. They don't leak and they are really easy to clean. One bottle didn't have the sipper valve. I contacted Backcountry and they sent out a replacement the next day.
I bought these for my one and two year old kids and so far they are perfect. They do not leak or spill. It also keeps them away from mommy's bite valve water bottles!
