When you need to carry a lot of water without spilling any of it, look to the Nalgene 32oz Narrow Mouth Tritan Bottle. This burly bottle features a narrow mouth that prevents spills and keeps your liquids where they belong: in your bottle or in your mouth. This Nalgene resists odor and stains and has a loop-top cap that won’t get lost in your pack or dishwasher. No BPA means this bottle won’t poison you slowly, which is nice.

Bottom Line: A poison-free, anti-spill home for 32oz of delicious liquid.

The Nalgene Tritan bottles can withstand temperatures from -40 to 212 degrees Fahrenheit. I would allow a little room for expansion like you mentioned.

32 Ounces

This is a very sturdy and although the description says made in China, mine has the made in USA stamped right on the bottle. I prefer the small top and think they are easier to drink from but it would be hard to get ice cubes into the small opening. I add crushed ice to fit through the top.

I always carry two nalgene bottle hiking and I used to screw around with
those easy drink insert things, No More. I carry the wide for my water
filter and mixing stuff and the narrow to drink water only.

Yes, the logo on one side (but it doesn't have the .com) and the ounce scale on the other.

Bottle is of good quality but..

By:
January 16, 2010

The prints on the bottle get scratched very easily at which time bottle looks pretty ugly, the only option is to scratch everything off which is time consuming. Backcountry should either not print anything on the bottle or use a high quality method so that it doesn't come off.

depends on the size of your ice cubes, my roommate has one and simply turns the ice cubes on end and they fit (that is automatic ice cube maker ice). It would probably be difficult to fit tray ice cubes in the mouth. All else fails, go get some crushed ice from a friend with an expensive fridge.

Great bottle, great price. Only drawback is that you can't really effectively put ice in it. Then again, it is much easier to drink out of.

I know Nalgene is using a new bpa-free polycarbonate for the newest bottles, but from what I've seen only in pictures the material looks different...softer. Are the bottles still virtually indestructable and thick?

Not a "bpa-free polycarbonate", a new plastic called Tritan. Clear, tough and dishwasher safe according to the hang-tag.

Love the narrow mouth

By:
March 17, 2009

My two old Nalgene were both wide mouth. I decided to try the narrow mouth, since the old ones were not PBA free. The narrow mouth is much easier to drink out of, and doesn't spill so easily. It's a bit harder to fill, but I really prefer the narrow mouth.

I agree, the smaller mouth is much easier to drink from IMO. I have had trouble of the ice cubes from our ice maker do not want to fit through the opening so we have to use crushed ice.

I couldn't tell a difference

By:

I have owned several nalgene's in the past, all non-BPA-free, and this one upholds the quality I expect, a tough and durable water bottle. Wide mouth's are easier to clean, but I like narrow mouth's because they are easier to drink from.

improved on an old favorite

I got rid of my old nalgenes after hte big BPA scare, but really missed the ease of use of the nalgene...the stainless ones just dont' do it for me...I'm constantly forgetting them in my car and then it freezes and the bottle gets all mangled. So I'm glad to see nalgenes come back without the BPA....The narrow mouth on these makes it so much easier to drink without getting a face full of water.

Same here, I tossed all of my old bottles and replaced them with these. Not sure if there was really a risk with the old plastics but they were due to be replaced anyways.
