NRS Endurance Jacket - Men's

The NRS Men's Endurance Splash Jacket keeps you dry with a fully seam-taped WaveTex nylon shell as you battle through another rapid. Thanks to the breathable fabric, the Endurance Splash Jacket won't cause that clammy feeling that seems too prevalent in rafting. NRS added neoprene closures to the neck and wrists to keep the water out of this splash jacket when waves break over the bow.

Bottom Line: Stay dry as you break through the last set of rollers with the NRS Endurance Splash Jacket fighting off the water.

Can this jacket be opened up around the neck to allow the paddler

Can this jacket be opened up around the neck to allow the paddler to cool off a bit when paddling flat water?

opening is big enough for your head to go through, and then can be tightened down using the velcro strap. it is a circular opening, not a v-shaped opening, so i do not think that there will be much cooling off going on.
it is a very light weight garment.

Effective and Comfortable

Fantastic product! I wouldn't expect much less from NRS. After a great day on the Upper Gauley in WV, I was comfortable and dry from waist to head. This jacket breathes and moves well with your body. The jacket does run a bit large- so you may want to size down a bit.

I thought the sizing was OK, the neck sizing and sleeve length are what I expected but the body is a little large, but that might help given the range of motion required for paddling. I like this jacket, it is light, and waterproof, and the adjustable cuffs and neck give a snug fit. This will keep water splashes out but as another reviewer mentioned if you end up out of your boat you will get wet. The cuff design is inclined to bunch up when trying to fit on gloves or slide your hand into a pogie, I much prefer a neoprene tube style cuff, but for the price I think this jacket is great.

Pullover. Note the complete lack of anything resembling a zipper in the photo.

Great jacket

The neck and wrist cuffs are easily adjusted. The jacket does its job well, kept me dry as I was running class III water. If you get dumped into the water you will get wet though, no way around it. The jacket dries rather quickly and it does fit a little large which leaves enough room for either 1 or a couple of baselayers.

It's windproof, but you do know this is a paddle jacket, right? Not just a softshell or something.

Lets be honest you are not going to get much insulation from just this shirt but it should be keeping you dry fairly well. What is important is while you are not upside down will it breathe, and yes it is nice. Get a softshell or something on if you need to stay warmer, or climb out of the wuss box, either one.
