Stay stable in rough waters and agile while exploring all those hidden inlets in Necky's Chatham 16ft Touring Kayak. Wiht a durable polyethylene hull, the Chatham Kayak stands up to your occasional driveway scrapes and hidden rock collisions. The full-chined, rounded hull design and retractable skeg provides stability while keeping this touring kayak responsive. Paddle happily all day and keep the blood in your legs flowing with Necky's molded foam touring seat. Store your overnight gear in the bow and stern hatches, and keep snacks in the smaller day hatch. Hop in and enjoy the ride.

GREAT!

This boat is great! It is very quick and cuts through choppy water like a warm knife in butter! The skeg is great being on the underside of the boat, it is more responsive than a out of water skeg. It is easier to pull in and out, you don't have to deal with gravity so much. The skeg indestructible with the material they use. This is a really responsive fun boat! Necky just knows what they are doing!

One of the best boats I've paddled.

If you want a stable, yet playful touring boat this is the best out there. The 16 is a bit more maneuverable then the 17 version. If you looking for a good boat for rock gardens and day trips this is worth every penny.
In my view drop skegs are far better for paddling then a rudder and the skeg on this boat is the best design I have seen.
