Mountain House Lasagna with Meat Sauce - 2 Serving Entree

There's nothing like a little comfort food after a long day of hiking. Mountain House's Freeze Dried Lasagna with Meat Sauce meal for two is just like mom used to make only it's lighter, tastier, and well, you have to make it on your own. It comes in a foil package that stands up on its own for easy eating and cooking.

Bottom Line: They'll call you the backcountry gourmet.

My Favorite...

By:
October 31, 2009

Out of all the Mountain House meals, this is my favorite. But when it says serves two, that's if you make something else to go with your Lasagna. A very hungry person can eat this in one sitting. And also try adding just a bit less water to make it thicker. Good Eats...

One of The Very Originals

By:
October 2, 2009

Mountain House has been making this meal with few changes since their inception. This is one of their original line-up. After returning to camp from a climb last summer I was starving. I boiled a pot of water, added it to the pouch, waited twelve minutes, pigged out! I normally don't eat a two serving meal by myself but this time I did. I was full & ready for the next adventure. Easy preparation, tastes good, & easy clean-up. You can't ask for much more in outdoor dining.

tastes great, but loaded to the gills with salt

By:
November 1, 2009

if i was just rating taste, i'd give this five stars. it's delicious for a freeze dried meal, and pretty damn good even if it wasn't.. my issue with it, and other MH meals is that they load this stuff up with an incredible amount of salt. take a look at the nutritional info, and beware if you have issues with salt or high blood pressure. i don't have health concerns, but i do notice a headache after eating a pouch of many MH foods.

Really Good

By:
October 2, 2008

This meal is really good. The meat sauce is the best of all the brands I have eaten. I use about 1.5 cups of water instead of 2 cups because it gets too soupy otherwise.

Not gunna lie...

By:
September 18, 2008

This meal is ABSOLUTELY delicious. This is my first time purchasing a dehydrated meal pouch of anything and my expectations were low. This actually turned out being something I would make at home for a meal it was so good. I found the serving size to be just right for one person even though it says two and I'm by no means a pig. If you eat other things with it however this may be enough to feed two not-so-hungry people.

Very Tasty

By:
November 25, 2008

One of my all time favorites. The only downfall is that the cheese in the lasagna mix makes a tough mess on your cookware. It takes a little more elbow grease to get you titanium bowl clean after this meal. Just as tasty, but less messy Spagetti.

Lovin' the Lasagna

By:
September 29, 2009

What else is there to say, Mountain House is the best! And my all-time favorite meal is their Lasagna. I have not met anyone who has tried it who has not liked it.

Was I starving or was this just really good?!?

By:
August 10, 2006

I was very impressed with all of the Mountain House food I ordered for a recent trip (only ordered the ones with good reviews). This lasagna was very good! Would have been better with a little garlic bread, salad and wine...but considering we were in the backcountry, it was great! Suggestion to Mountain House: make your bags burnable!!!

Delicious but sticky cheese hard to clean-up

By:
July 5, 2009

Just back from a trip where two of us each had the lasagna and we agreed it was one of Mountain House's best meals. The only problem is that this meal has some type of cheese which sticks like glue to utensils--both metal and plastic. We'll opt for the spaghetti w/meat sauce next time--equally delicious and with no clean-up problems.

Great Tasting Product

By:
April 20, 2009

If you have a thing of Italian food and the outdoors, don't leave the house without Mountain House's Lasagna with Meat Sauce. Delicious and filling, this portable food is probably my all time favorite. Two servings can easily be passed around three average weight guys who'd rather share their food then carry the extra individual weight. It's ready to eat in about 8 minutes (it says 5 on the bag, but give it extra time to tenderize) and the bag seals back up so you can throw it in your pack and not worry about opening it later and finding your sleeping bag covered in tomato paste. If you havent tried it already, buy it. You won't be disappointed.

Shockingly Good

By:
August 20, 2008

This was my first dehydrated food I ever ate camping and really didn't know what to expect but had very low expectations. This surpassed my expectations and remains my favorite MH entree. And every time I make it, it surprises me how good it really tastes. Not just I'm starving good, but good good.

Sticks to the ribs..

Once you've developed your Backcountry palate this will be one of the more tasty meals out there. 1 Pizza Hut packet of crushed red pepper when its done will give it that extra kick. Best meal for miles.

Mountain House Lasagna with Meat Sauce

By:
July 6, 2006

I'm loving this stuff. Light, and extremely tasty compared to all the homemade stuff I've been doing for years. I don't follow the instructions though. Mixing the hot water in the bag makes a mess to serve and leftovers to carry. I measure out the bag contents, one spoon at a time, into two mugs, add hot water wait about 53 seconds and start eating. It is usually too hot at this point but is very consumable. The bag stays dry and serves as the day's trash receptacle.

When you are in the woods there's nothing better than a hot meal--the lasagna is a gourmet Chef Boyardee. Very yummy!

My favorite mountain house

By:
June 17, 2009

This is by far my favorite mountain house flavor. You can actually pull out strings of cheese. MMMmmm. Of course, you need a 2 serving bag for one person who is doing some decent amount of hiking, but other than that its awesome.

GET this one!!!

By: Backcountry.com Employee
September 10, 2008

I got a variety of meals all by Mountain House for a 10 camping trip in Alaska. All were actually good, BUT this one was one of my very favorites. The Flavor was awesome! There was even cheese that was sticking to my fork, proof that real, quality ingredients are being used in these meals. It was great!

Mountain House Lasagna - awesome

By: Backcountry.com Employee
September 8, 2008

The lasagna is one of my 2 or 3 favorite dehydrated meals I've tried. It is lightweight, and only requires 2 cups of hot water to make. Cooks right in the pouch, with no extra steps. Tastes really great after a long day.

Tastes like Lasagna!

By: Backcountry.com Employee

At times, it seems that dehydrated food can be far removed from its hydrated mentor. This tasted great. I think you will like it. The cheese clumps a bit while "cooking" so stir it well.
