Mountain Hardwear Typhoon Pant - Men's

Wander into a mountain downpour wearing the Mountain Hardwear Typhoon Pants and come out dry. The Gore-Tex PacLite fabric gives you guaranteed protection without adding weight to your trip. This waterproof material keeps you dry as you hike through high-altitude storms, and it's also incredibly breathable, so your legs don't get clammy. Gore-Tex XCR reinforcement at the knees gives these pants an extra dose of durability for kneeling to tie bootlaces or drive in tent stakes. Use the Typhoon Pants' nine-inch ankle zips to pull these pants off or on without removing your hiking boots. Weighing only 11 ounces, these Mountain Hardwear pants are hardly noticeable in your pack.

Bottom Line: Unexpected cloudbursts are a welcome adventure when you hike in the waterproof Mountain Hardwear Typhoon Pants.

I'm planning to buy these pants, but not sure what size to get without trying them on. I have a 31 waist, with a 30" inseam when I measured myself.

Looking at their website they have short/regular/long inseam options for each size. I've also read they fit a little small I want to be able to wear long underwear and a light pair of quick-dry pants underneath. What size and inseam should I get?

Is it possible to get these on without taking your hiking boots off? (boots, not shoes)

Jamie. I would get the medium/reg in these pants. I think you find them large enough to get clothing underneath and as far as getting boots off is concerned... the zip goes up to the knee. So, depending on the boots I don't think it would be an issue to get the pants on and off with boots on. Hope this info helps!

Don't go out without em'

Light and dry. I am not sure about the typhoon part yet, but I just got back from 7 days of mountaineering in Antarctica. Two layers underneath kept me warm, these kept me dry, inside and out. They really do keep it all out and the breathability kept me dry inside as well. Light enough to carry all the time.

Damn Fine Pants

These pants fit me like a glove with a pair of fleece pants under. They're light as a feather, waterproof and breath very well. My only knock on this product is that my big-ass feet don't fit through the short zip area with my hiking boots on. I'm happy with these pants.

These pants are made with Gore Paclite. They are guaranteed waterproof by GoreTex. With that said, they will handle a downpour in SE Alaska just fine... good luck!
