Mountain Hardwear Transition Zip Tee - Women's - 2005

The Mountain Hardwear Women's Transition Zip Tee represents what may be the next revolution in technical outerwear and base layers. Transition promises a sweeping change not unlike the advent of wicking base layers that spelled the demise of cotton as a part of traditional outdoor clothing. Utilizing a Gore Windstopper N2S laminate, the Transition Zip Tee serves as a base layer, an insulating layer, and a shell—all in one. By decreasing the number of layers between your warm skin and the cold air outside, you get incredible moisture transport and breathability, keeping you warmer and drier than any other piece of outerwear. A polyester pique outer laminate and brushed polyester knit lining keeps you comfortable at all times. The unique construction is both windproof AND breathable; a rare and precious combination for aerobic exertions in cold weather like climbing, Nordic skiing, or cycling. Stretch lycra at the neck, cuffs, and hem seal in a microclimate against your skin, further protecting you from harsh conditions. Wear the Transition Zip Tee next to skin on its own, or in rainy conditions as an insulating layer under a waterproof breathable shell. Note that the outer face of Transition may snag against abrasive surfaces like rock faces or fuzzy sweaters.

Bottom Line: A revolution in layering technology.

the shirt you need for cycling in the cold. it's true, it blocks the wind and no bulk. caution: biting it on a downhill near asphalt does shabby it up a bit.

wind stopper

Very good wind stopping shirt. I wear it cycling and it can be used from 40-60 degree weather without a problem. It breathes extremely well and I am really surprised at the wind stopping capability. The only problem with it is that it snags very easily. Other than cosmetics, it works like a dream.
