I love almost everything MH and these pants do exactly what I wanted them to do. The stretch fabric makes it feel like I am wearing nothing and the freedom of movement while hiking and bouldering are incredible. They are a little tight, but for backpacking I think they are wonderful. The glued seems work well for me so far, I have rocked these on lots of hiking trips in the Whites and havent had any problems after washing. The belt loop is great too because they are glued on, no awkward rubbing on the hip belt. I love these pants, fit is excellent and they are great for hiking and backpacking!

Not too impressed and here's why. I usually melt when it comes to MH, they make it happen, but for some reason this pant just was pretty blase. I wear a 34x30 so these were long because it seems no outdoor company wants to make a good hiking pant that gives an inseam option to the customer so the fit is better. That just irks me, and that's part of the reason for the 3 star rating. The material used is neat and super water resistant and windproof. Great. There are no stitched seams, instead everything is glued, so when the glue failed me and I had to do a field repair with some sewing floss, I immediately looked like a homeless person because of the distinct stitching pattern that is now on my pants. I lived in these pants on the AT and they would be washed every week, but for everyday I didn't wash them they continued to get baggier and baggier. By the time laundry day came around I had on M.C. Hammer pants. They wouldn't compress down into any of the pockets that adorn the sides of the legs. They were just good weather resistant pants to hike in that were too long and baggy by weeks end.

Here's the deal these pants are sweet BUT there's one major flaw. The hem by the ankle is sewn poorly and with the wrong type thread. If you stretch the lower leg the hem will pop open. The hem should have been sewn with more care and they should have used a elastic thread. So since the pants have give and the tread does not if you stretch the hem the seam pops EASILY. Now I have to take the pants to the tailor and get them sewn properly. I wish I could send them back to mountain hardwear - but as you all know it's just not worth the effort or the postage. Great pants - wrong thread and cheep Chinese sewing. These pants could have truly been great, and they will be although sadly I'll have to pay to have them fixed.

The water resistant material works well. When they do get very wet, they dry quickly just as advertised. They are comfortable the waist is extremely soft and fits well under a pack. After hiking 21 miles and carrying my wife's pack also they were breathing wonderfully. When I had to start carrying my son and both of our packs, the still held up. They began to become a bit loose midway on the trip and that was aggrovating and the main reason for 4 stars instead of 5. Also, I prefer to have a back pocket. The pocket preference doesn't lose them a star but the material stretching and becoming too loose does remove a star. All in all, good pants but I will be trying something else to be my main pair of pants.

These pants are extremely comfortable!! The material allows for great freedom of movement and they have become my go-to hiking pants while in the backcountry. They breath really well even on those hot humid days in the Whites. Because of the material though they do seem to stretch out quite a bit after just wearing them on two hikes. The fit is true to the size, I was worried the large would be tight but being 6'0 and 200lbs the large fit just right. I enjoy that they have belt loops as I am not a fan of built in belts on my hiking pants but the belt loops seem a bit flimsy and I can see them detaching with a bit more use. Overall, extremely comfortable pants, great material and fit, a bit skeptical on bomb-proofness....

I friggin love these pants. From walking to work, scrabbling through scree and trees, or climbing. Stretchy and durable. No back pockets but why would you need them in the backcountry. Definitely recommend.

Not sure what happened to the other reviewers pants, but these are the best pair of pants i have ever owned. They fit great, the stretchiness is really cool and makes bouldering and climbing really easy. They are very durable for me and have lots of pockets. The soft chamois lining is great for carrying a heavy pack too. They also look really cool. I absolutely recommend these pants.

I have been using these MH Talus pants for a few months and have come to a few conclusions. First of all, in terms of durability and comfort they are great. I have had hiking/climbing pants that had stretch as one of their main selling points and the Talus are definitely my favorite when that is needed or desired. I have gone through some gnarly brush and rough conditions where I thought I might snag it or rip it and nothing ever happened. Secondly, for the multitude of uses these pants are good for my favorite is for trail running on cool days through Barton Creek. The light weight and breathability make these perfect with no fear of branches or bush tearing up my legs and ankles. My only real complain is other than the stitching at the cuff that other posters mention, (my right cuff is starting to come undone) I am not too fond of how tight they come across the male area. I definitely tried on the Small, Medium and Large and for my 33ish to 34 waist I needed the Medium, but it is a little tight down there and shows a little too much. Maybe you wont have a problem but I just wanted to mention it. Definitely worth the price if you can find them on sale. If not they are a great investment.

I wanted to give these pants a little use before I actually used them. I'm 5'6'' and 130 pounds and the small fits very nice, although the inseam maybe just a little too long, it's nothing too major though, especially for you taller folks. I took these pants fishing for a day and they kept me comfortable from the morning cold to the mid day heat. I also took it on an overnight backpacking trip and they held up pretty well throughout. I didn't experience any tearing or coming apart of the hem around the ankles or excessive stretching like some of these other reviews but then again I may not have used them as much yet. Overall, the fit is great and these pants seem quite durable.

Nice all-around hiking pants. I like the material very much, stretchy, easy to vent and dry. Water-resistant and Wind-proof. From hot damp forest to windy freezing cold mountains covered with snow, it all works out very good as the single layer.

However, the reason I have to return is because of the glue on the seam are very easy to get off. In 6 months, after 4-5 washes (follow their washing instruction), there are couple of places where the glues are coming off, which leave a hole in the pant.

Also it is not mosquito bite resistant, as it is pretty thin. So wear something different if insect bite is one of your concern.

I got these pants for Rigging for search and rescue and. there awsome! the movement they allow is awsome, they have the perfect feel, and perfect amount of facric! they keep you cool in the sun, and are warm enough in the cool shade...

I am 5"7 175lbs and the large was just slightly too big. I would recommend anyone with a 34" waist to go with the medium
