Mountain Hardwear Super Wicked Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Your office shirt has a collar, and now your workout clothes can, too. Mountain Hardwear made the Men's Super Wicked Shirt for aerobic activities, but gave it a low-profile polo-shirt style. The shirt's body is knit for breathability, and the shoulders are woven for durability and little extra padding under a hydration pack's straps. If you heat up, just open the Wicked Shirt's front zip for some A/C.

Bottom Line: Workout or relax in the Mountain Hardwear Super Wicked Shirt. Just don't wear a tie with it.

Great golf shirt

By:
June 26, 2007

As the title suggests, and like another reviewer, I bought this shirt for golfing and it is awesome! However, it didn't help my (lack of) game much, but I do look good. I'm comfortable all day long in this shirt even in 90 + degree weather and it has made its way into my regular rotation of everyday shirts. Get one, you won't be disappointed. If I had one critique it's that the shirt is a little short so if you reach for something (or make a golf swing) it will show off your stomach a little bit, but that's just quibbling.

Never Again

By:
June 23, 2008

After one washing (following directions) the shirt caught on something (maybe its' own zipper) causing it to leave a pull. I have another one that caught on a rain jacket. I will not buy another. First time disappointed in one of their products. The shirt did look good and it performs well, just doesn't last more than a few wearings.

Fabric breaths fantastically, non odorous, can wear to post ride gatherings. Great for mountain weather that can change so quickly.

looks good... once

By:
April 21, 2009

looks good, feels great in tehe heat, stays dry, but after ONE hike with only a 2 litre hydration pack on, the main fabric is torn up, dozens of pulled threads and balled up peices wherever the hydration pack straps were.

want to love it, but its a complete waste of money, unless you never carry anything.

wish i could bget my money back...

You'll "hardly wear" it before...

By:
October 24, 2009

I always thought Mountain Hardwear put out reliable products; I own a number of clothing items from them. The super wicked shirt really feels good; it fits well and is very comfortable. But... just brush up against anything and this material will snag and run like yesterday's nylon stockings. I bought a replacement only because it was a discontinued color on sale. I know now that it has to be treated with kid gloves. Frankly, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who wouldn't want to go through the trouble.

Great polo for hiking

By:
May 6, 2009

The body of the shirt wicks and breathes well, and the nylon-like shoulders give it some ruggedness against backpack strips. The fit is that of a standard polo and runs true to size. A Mountain Hardware logo on one of the sleeves gives it some branding without screaming it.

Great shirt, very breathable

By:
April 14, 2009

This is a really sweet shirt. It wicks and breathes very well (like the MH Wicked-T), but has a collar. Why would I want a collar? Well, it provides some sun protection for the back of my neck. It also looks a little dressier than a regular t-shirt (e.g., I wore it to play volleyball last week and had no hesitation keeping it on to go out to dinner afterward). Yes, like my other Mountain Hardware wicked tees it snags somewhat easily. But I have all be eliminated this problem by making sure that I don't wash/dry it with any of my clothing that has Velcro pockets (because washing with clothes with hook-and-loop fasteners has caused most of the runs in my shirts). The zipper is useful and unobtrusive. And the fit is nice, without being too 'fitted.'

solid for poly

By:
July 17, 2009

you may smell a little when you get done w/ a day in this shirt, but there is a good chance you won't sweat as much either (the nature of the poly beast). Even if you do sweat, it wicks great + the zip is a nice cool down option that doesnt chafe.

New school look for golf

By:
May 21, 2007

I cheated and bought this as a golf shirt, not a 'collared' workout/running shirt. So far, so good--rave reviews from the rest of my foursome. Nice fit, nice feel, nice look.

It does what it says

By:
May 27, 2008

This shirt kept me relatively cool in near 90 degree valley heat, and it looks great, too. I'm 5'10", and the medium fit me perfectly.

Have 2 of them.

By:
November 26, 2008

Best all around hot weather shirt I own so I bought 2 of them. I backpacked the summer months in UT and NV with these and loved them. I'll feel bad when I wear them out. Perfect fit, kept me cool & dry and made me look better too.

Fabric de-threads very easily

By:
July 20, 2009

This would be a fantastic shirt, however the fabric runs like panty hose. Any number of things can nick the fabric and very easily cause it to run. It damages so very easily it is just not practical at all. I hope they improve the fabric, if so I will try this again.

Good deal for all you biking/hiking/running/tennis players out there..

By:
May 12, 2009

"Just cool out man!" The shirt is very cool, it's both styling and breathes really well to let some of the "funk" out. It wears out pretty quick though from packs and shoulder straps (i noticed it wearing when i was on a bike ride once after only 30 minutes of wearing it with a hydration pack, i had another shirt luckily and saved this one to fight another day). However, the shirt does fill the niche of a half decent running and tennis shirt. Next best thing other than no shirt for tennis during those brutal 110+ on court temp days (tennis people know what i mean). Plus once the ladies show up you can just shed it to show off your bod, and avoid those terrible tennis tan lines.

superb pullover for hiking

By:
June 1, 2006

It might look like a collared shirt, but the Mountain Hardwear Super Wicked Short Sleeve Shirt performs like a technical jersey with plenty of lightweight and moisture-wicking fabric, plus a UPF rating of 35 to enhance your sunscreen protection. This is a superb pullover for hiking, cycling, climbing or traveling around in places were you need a casual shirt with a little more flair than an ordinary tee or crewneck top. A seven-inch front zipper lets you air things out—just remember to add sunscreen to those exposed spots.

Good Travel Shirt

By:
July 28, 2009

Some other reviews comment that this shirt is not too durable. It probably won't stand up to extended abuse, like carrying a heavy backpack. It is a lightweight material.

It is a great travel shirt, though. Comfortable, reasonably stylish, and light and compact to pack. It also washes and hangs dry overnight.

When I leave home, I always toss two or three of these shirts in the suitcase.

Great shirt

By:
August 11, 2006

Really lightweight and very good moisture wicking properties.

I love the collar and front zip. At first I thought the zip might be a tad heavy for this shirt, but it is really unobtrusive when logging miles on the trail.

Abrasion resistance fabrics are well placed, I look forward to testing this shirt out on a weekend trip wearing a pack.

Its cool to be cool

By:
November 7, 2008

Nice to have the cool airy breathable aspects in a collared shirt. Deep zipper bonus. Stylin or dorky in eye of beholder. Yes, fabric catches and pulls just like expected. Same for similar shirts by other makers. (Only exception MHW "Duration", denser weave, NEVER catches/pulls, but no collared styles to my knowledge).

Decent shirt, but questionable value for price

By:
June 4, 2007

This shirt looks great and is comfortable, particularly in warm weather. It is very "fragile" however, snagging noticeably with even minor scratching, brushing up against trees, or abrasion from a pack. I personally prefer a cotton t-shirt as it is a little more comfortable (albeit not as cool in warm weather) and much more durable. Long story short, this shirt is good for activities that don't involve potential snagging.

My Favorite Shirt

By:
April 10, 2009

I need to buy more since my one shirt is always in the laundry. I love the way it fits and feels...just wish they made it in a variety of colors so I could get one of each. You honestly can't go wrong with this shirt.

Durability Lacking

By:
May 28, 2008

As mentioned by another reviewer, the shirt is comfortable and looks good, but the durability is just not there. Abrasion from a pack or coarse jacket will snag and cause the fabric to "pill". Already had to throw one away. This shirt would be fine, if you're not wearing anything over it/on it.

Goldilocks and the three shirts

By:
August 3, 2009

I am 6' 1" 185lbs. I have a lot of Mountain Hardwear that I love, so with a long trip coming up I bought three of them. Three larges, but they were too small. I felt constricted with not enough air movement; this may be some of the "modern" style, and it is not that I want a tent so I sent those back and got XL and they were too big. The neck opening and collar were much too large it looked as though I was 12 trying to wear my father's shirt; I am sending these back as well. I liked the fabric and will continue to purchase Mountain Hardwear, but not this model.

got 3 of them - perfect for hot trail time

By: Backcountry.com Employee
March 25, 2009

got a few colors - a great shirt for mtn biking, trail running, flyfishing, you name it.
collared shirt has some great advantages - can keep the shoulder straps off your neck and eliminate the chaffing, and can keep the sun off your neck too.

be gentle with this thing - it will snag easy. its super light weight, so do use it as a work shirt! the lightweight materials feel great here in hot summer Utah, but the lightweight material can snag easily.

If you sweat a lot buy it!

By: Backcountry.com Employee
February 20, 2009

Yo, I sweat! I'm proud to say this people, I sweat when I sleep, eat and even when I sit (and I'm really not that fat, it's just I sweat); so when I go backpacking or go hiking the sweat factor is even worse. This shirt saves my husky arse when it's too hot & I don't get the armpit sweat stains when I'm just chillaxin' n' stuff. Cotton doesn't work for me, this is a great golf shirt, hiking shirt or even work shirt (if you sweat like me or actually have to physically work I highly recommend it).

Nice Light Weight Shirt

By: Backcountry.com Alumni
September 2, 2008

This is a great light weight shirt. If it has a flaw it is that it might be too light weight. It's stylish and fits well though. It has mad it in to the official weekly rotation.
