Wow. This sucker is warm! For the size (it compresses quite small) this thing really packs in the BTU's. There was a cold snap up in the Canadian Rockies while I was on my ice climbing trip. I couldn't manage sitting in a coffee shop with nothing to do but write reviews for another day- so I went for it. At minus 18 C, this thing is KEY apparel for the belays. Even following my fellow torture lover, I wore this jacket happily- and forgot my pain for a few brief moments . . . until I had to get back on the sharp end.

Lucked out and got it for $59 on clearance...couldn't pass it up...great jacket, I'm 5'6" 135 and the small fit but a little tight w/ layers, got the Med and its perfect. They must have added length to the torso and sleeves b/c this jkt has the best length I've seen for both. Great hood coverage even with a helmet and reverse zip for belays! Too bad it doesn't come in 800 fill and w/o extra linings to keep it lighter. Still a good buy if you can get it around $100 or less.

I bought this jacket on a whim and thought it would be a great addition to my Kili gear. I am always cold. I am 5'4 and weigh around 120...I am small up top and have some junk in the trunk. I bought a small. All in all, it is a pretty good fit. I was able to layer it with 3 tops underneath including the Montbell exceloft and wore my gore-tex shell over it. It fits a bit snug around the bottom when I have multiple layers on. I love the hood, it's a must. We hiked in a blizzard and the wind was fierce...I was warm but was never able to escape the chill. I am not convinced that it is the warmest thing out there, but like I said, I am always cold.

Light weight, warm, and water proof in mist, drizzle, and wet snow. You'll want a waterproof taped seam shell in a downpour -- which is pretty much how this jacket is advertised. Interior pocket can hold a 1 liter bottle or 2-liter bladder, though there's no easy way to route a drinking tube. Fleece lining on the inside of the collar and pockets is a luxury touch. Detachable hood and the water proofing are what make this jacket a step up from MSR's standard down parka. Wish it came in more colors. Had to settle for black. Women's small fits a 5'2", 125 lb petite woman perfectly.

Mountain Hardwear Sub Zero SL Hooded Down Jacket(Women's) is a solid quality down jacket. Living in Norway is cold in the winter, and this excellent jacket keeps me warm both when I´m out in the woods as well as walking in the city. The shape is perfectly made for girls.

This is a fantastic buy. I love everything about it. Winter hasn't really settled in yet, but I can already tell how warm this jacket will be. VERY COMFY. True that it does run pretty big. I am 5'4" 150 and a medium was plenty big. I normally buy larges.

Attention all men: This is the one that'll keep her warm enough to kick your butt on your yearly xmas trip to the backcountry.

She says: great fit, not too bulky, the hood actually keeps her ears nice and warm, her starbursts don't freeze in her pockets. It's windproof (haven't tested the waterproof yet, but will update when we get back from RMNP in Jan) packs small and she even wears it to work.

This is the one she wants for xmas.

i love this coat overall. its very warm, the internal pockets are great, and so is the zip off hood. complaints include lack of butt coverage and it could be tailored more for women (it tapers in at the hips - sort of boxy)
still - its one of the few I've found that don't make my petite frame look like a house.

I love my Mountain Hardware Sub Zero jacket. On my way up Kilimanjaro I used it every evening above 3500meters. And on summit night it kept me nice and warm in -10 degrees Celsius. On "normal" cold days back home (between -5 and 5 deg C) its almost too hot! Gotta love it!

This jacket is the best jacket I have ever owned however, having little problem with the zipper. This is the second one I have purchased the first one was a mans and that zipper is tough sometimes to. I really love this jacket it is awwwwsome!!!!

I live in Chicago and wanted a jacket that wouldn't make me shiver in the winter conditions here. I found it! I am 5'6'' and the ladies medium fits perfectly! It's got a great hood that's detachable and keeps my entire face warm and covered! Easily the best winter jacket I have ever owned!

I loved this jacket from the moment I opened up the box. It's going to be great for those long storm days sitting on the lift when everyone else has called it quits. I ended up with the medium. I ordered both. The small fit me (I'm 5'6 size 5, but very busty on top), but the medium is what I picked for any layering I might do. I don't mind the extra room. Can't wait to try it out. Now we just need some SNOW!!

I love this coat...I can just throw it on and know I'll stay warm and dry. The hood is a must. It's very puffy, but I don't mind...a small trade-off to stay warm. Very comfortable and light. I've worn it in sleeting rain/snow and stayed dry and warm. If you're looking for a parka-type coat, this one is great. Waist length. I'm 5'2" 125 lbs and bought a small. Can wear over a light jacket and still have enough room to move around.

I live in Hawaii and have family on the mainland. Every year around the winter holidays I leave 80 degrees of paradise for about 3 weeks. That 3 weeks has always been a time of freezing my buns off. But freeze no more with the sub zero SL hooded jacket. It truly became my paradise away from paradise, a little warm retreat in the snow covered mountains and also running errands in town. I LOVE this jacket and recommend it to anyone needing a packable summit jacket or just a dependable winter jacket. I'll never leave the islands again without it!

After reading the reviews, I decided to purchase a small in black and it fits perfectly! I'm 5'2" and 125 lbs. Looks and feels great! It is puffy, but I don't mind. Just got it today so haven't tested it in the cold...based on reviews, I think I'll be warm enough.

My wife said that this is the best down jacket that she has ever owned. She is about 5'1" and is wearing the small size. She is able to layer under it some.

This parka is awesome. It has great features (inside water bottle pocket, fleece-lined hand pockets), and is really warm. It kept me dry and warm in really cold weather climbing, and kept out the wind. The Subzero is a relatively inexpensive (compared to other brands) down parka. Buy it -- you won't be disappointed.

My wife loves the Sub Zero. In 20 degree temps it feels like you're wearing a heater. Not tested in temps lower than the 20's. Fits into a stuff sack smaller than a loaf of bread. Highly recommended.

this jacket rocks. just poofy enough to keep you roasty, but compressable enough to stash. and oh yeah, it's way warm.

This is my first down jacket. I read a lot of reviews before deciding to buy this jacket. Expensive but worth the money. Very, very warm and comfy. I wore it when I was in the Himalayas... Slept with it on, wore it whenever I wasnt moving. I was grateful to have it! It is reasonably light and small, so it doesn't take up too much space/weight in a pack.

I love this jacket. It's comfortable and looks good too, until you put the hood all the way up and close the front flap. But then you don't care because you're a toasty mummy!

This jacket is great!! The weather is -18 degrees outside and you wouldn't even realize that it was that cold. The hood when put on keeps you nice and toasty, it does shut out the noise. Super great jacket!!

I get *really* cold really easily. This jacket worked wonders. I thought it was too warm for skiing (though with fewer underlayers, it actually worked out ok). When just hanging out, the jacket keeps you at a perfect temp. XS fit well (I am 5'0", 100lbs) and it is not nearly as bulky as other brands. Downsides: hard to start the zipper; and the hook and loop closure at the top closure bothers my chin (though cutting it down with scissors seemed to help).

Awesome. I love this jacket. I keeps me warm or hot, it as if the down can read my mind. It was a bit pricey but, totally worth it. I think it is my favorite piece of gear right now. My fav part about it is the zipper actually, it NEVER gets jammed, really smooth.

Great coat; VERY warm; well-constructed. I bought it to work in the Arctic, but it does fit on the large side. I'm a medium-build and usually wear a small or a medium (women's). I called before ordering and was advised that this fits on the large side, but the small was still too big. I think that the sleeves would be too short on the XS.

Deliciously warm, easy to ski with, on the coldest mountain in Quebec-Tremblant. The color, Tiger, attracted everyone's attention. I now have three Sub Zer0 SL Hooded Jackets!!

This jacket made me sweat from the moment I put it on! It is incredibly cozy. My only complaint is the sizing. I am 5 foot 4 and 108 pounds and the size small was HUGE on me. If you are petite, be sure to go with the extra small!

I got the Tiger color jacket. Great color.It looks just like the color on a striped tiger. I got a size Large .( I am 5ft 5 in. tall and around 160 lbs ). The major gripe is what a few others have mentioned, and that is the coat needs to be a tad bit longer .It just barely covers the rearend.
The warmth factor is wonderfull. I have worn it in 20 degree windy winter days since I have gotten the coat. . If you have short sleeves on under the coat , the sleeves of the coat get alittle cold inside against your skin but the rest of the coat is toasty. when I wear one layer underneath including long sleeves , the coat is perfect.
The hood of the jacket is oh so warm also.
The wrist / hand elastic openings could have been alittle bit wider to give more room for the wrist part of the gloves to fit in but oh well. The zipper is easy to start and runs very smooth. all in all the coat is a smash!!
do not know how it will do when washed but special instructions came with it. I read another site about the washing and it said to use powder soap and a front loading washer. No agitator.

this is a great jacket. it keeps me toasty warm on winter camping trips. it's long in length...so it covers your back when you bend over. the sleeves are fine for me at 5'6" and 120 lbs. i'd say the small runs a little large. but i like the fit for layering. the detachable hood is also a nice feature. i have also washed this jacket in the machine, and it came out just fine after a tumble dry with no heat.

I bought the jacket in the small, true blue color, and I love it! I have worn this jacket in -10 to -18 weather walking and x-country skiing. I am usually always cold but in this jacket I stay toasty warm and the fit is fantastic! The jacket is puffy but I have full range of motion for all of my favorite winter activities and it is extremely comfortable.

Good stuff, although slightly different from the picture (jacket received has the MH logo on the left breast and "Conduit SL" sewn acrossed right wrist rather than vertically up the outer forearm). Even so, very warm jacket at a great price!! I'm 5'8" and weigh around 190 so I went with the XL to allow for layering-- maybe could have gotten away with a Large, but I didn't want to risk it being too snug when I wear my beloved hooded sweatshirts.

I am bummed! I read all these awesome reviews about the fit and everything and I got mine and it is 1. too big (I'm 5'5' and 135lbs and got a Med.) and 2. it is not flattering at all! It is huge, puffy, shiny black (I thought it would be matte) and makes me look huge. Bummmed out in Minnesota. Maybe a small would look better, but I'm not entirely convinced.... :-(

I love this jacket, but can't find one that fits just right. It's super warm, very lofty, and comfortable. I typically wear a size 10 on top, and the small was pretty roomy considering. I tried the XS and it fit well in the body, but was too short in the sleeves and a bit short in the torso. All in all, this jacket is tough and ideal for low temps, but not very flattering if that's your main concern.
