Mountain Hardwear Spectre SL 20 Sleeping Bag: 20 Degree Down

The Mountain Hardwear Spectre SL 20 Sleeping Bag uses 800-fill goose down and a waterproof Conduit SL shell to create a versatile, weather-blocking bag for light alpine climbs and all-around backpacking. The Spectre’s weatherproof materials make it ideal for trekking in soggy climates or moving fast through the high peaks.

  • Tailored hood and face gasket seal in warm air
  • Welded, watertight baffle construction lowers weight and eliminates cold spots
  • Comfort mummy cut gives you ideal blend between low weight and relaxed dimensions
  • Comfort footbox follows natural shape of your feet

Bottom Line: No, you’re not seeing things. It’s a lightweight, waterproof down bag.

Good Bag but a bit pricey

By:
October 19, 2009

I purchased the bag from backcountry a couple of months ago before the price got raised. It is, without a doubt, the best sleeping bag i have ever used... but then again i have only had two. I just finished my first trip with the bag: four nights in the smokies with mins in the high 30's. The bag held up very well. i made the mistake of zipping it up all the way on the first night and woke up pretty swetty. From that point on it stayed half zipped. The design and quality of the bag is top notch. My only concern is the price of the bag. When you start getting into the $400 price range, there are many other higher quality bags made by companies such as Western Mountaineering and feathered friends. I did my research and this was my first choice baised of waterproofing and a discount i recieved. If i were to pay the full 400 or so i would definetly have gotten a Western Mountaineering. hope this helps :)

DRY AND WARM

By:

I love this bag! I'm a pretty small guy(5'6 145) and have tons of room in the reg. My clothes fit in the bottom without leaving me sufficeint room to roll around. My bag has seen 20 degree nights with no tent, and rain. In the rain(2 hours moderate) it held up great, with my breathing hole tightened up almost no rain got in and the water beads just shook off. Temp wise the rating is very accurate outside on a thermarest I was warm in twenty degree weather.
