Mountain Hardwear Shasta Short - Women's - 2008

The Mountain Hardwear Women's Shasta Short gets you to the ultimate Frisbee game in the park just as easily as it gets you to the top of that mountain trail. The Shasta has a fun and flattering cut, with a slightly lower rise to keep you looking beautiful as you enjoy the sunny season.

Bottom Line: Work hard, but play harder.

Comfy all'round shorts

By:
October 24, 2009

My wife loves these shorts! I picked them up for her initially for just a nice hiking short but she wears them everywhere. They seem to be a little snug fitting all over but they're stretchy so it hasn't been a big deal. The stitching is also very slimming which my wife absolutely loves! In all the hikes we've done this summer, all the time sitting in the dirt with the kids, not once have they held on to a stain at all.

what does mt. hardwear call this material? I have the sajama pant and love the material- now i want a pair of shorts in the same stuff. The sajama pant is made of Salado stretch canvas...

Caitie. The material in the Shasta Short is called 'Stratum Stretch Herringbone' and it is 59% Cotton, 36% Polyester, and 5% Elastane (stretchy). The Sajama Pant is made, as you know, with Salado Stretch Canvas which is 95% Nylon and 5% Elastane. If you are looking for that fabric in a short... unfortunately, we don't make one. The closest thing we've got to that is the Petra Short which is made with Switchback Plus Fabric that is 85% Nylon and 15% Elastane. It is allot lighter and stretchier... but not as heavy. Hope this info helps!

nice fabric

Like most Mountain Hardwear shorts and pants, they run small, so order a size up compared to what you wear in other brands.

What is the inseam length? I wish Backcountry would include that

What is the inseam length? I wish Backcountry would include that in all their pants and shorts info.

That makes two of us... size 2 is 10" and all other sizes are 10.5" for the inseam. Also, size 8 is a 40" waist, size 10 is a 42 and 2 is a 34" waist. If you ever have questions like that please call us and we can expedite your answer.

Not the fit I had hoped for...

Loved the material. Did not like the fit. Rise felt too high, seat felt loose, and legs were not roomy enough, imo. :( Returned them.
