The Mountain Hardwear Women's Mynx Fleece Jacket features high-loft WindStopper Girilla fleece fabric for excellent warmth whether you wear it alone or as a mid-layer under your shell. Unlike standard fleece that doesn't stop even the slightest breeze, the Mynx Jacket keeps you from feeling the chill of gale-force winds. Mountain Hardwear lined the hand pockets to give them a soft, comfortable feel, and they added a sleeve and interior pocket to hold smaller items like your lip balm.
Bottom Line: Get high-loft warmth and windproof performance from the Mountain Hardwear Mynx Fleece Jacket.
I got this jacket in white, and it's my favorite new piece this season. The fleece is very soft--it's vegan but it almost feels like rabbit fur. It's not the same greasy monkey fleece Mountain Hardwear and The North Face have been recycling again and again. The manufacturer's review is pretty right-on, but I disagree with their recommended uses. For me, this fleece is too hot and heavy for high-energy activity. It works better (and very effectively) as casual or post-activity insulation.
i tried this jacket on at a store found it on sale @ backcountry and got it yesterday just in time for the cold front! Very soft and so cozy and warm!! fit awesome! this will be my new favorite! It is not bulkly but keeps you very warm!
I ordered this jacket and was disappointed in the smallest item - the zipper. The back of the zipper is protected from your skin, but if you zip it all the way up, there is no guard that goes up over the top of the zipper such as you'll find in Patagonia or TNF. Mountain Hardwear dropped the ball on this feature. For this price, I expected my chin to be protected from the end of the cold, rough zipper. Other than that flaw, it's fairly warm. Great color - cinnaberry - almost like a wine color.
This is, by far, my favorite article of clothing. It's super cozy and warm, so I won't be utilizing it too much in the summer. But, it's incredibly comfortable. It has a slightly roomy fit, which makes it good for wearing over a sweater, however it's so warm a sweater might not be necessary!
There is no doubt this jacket is incredibly warm and soft, however the shoulders and upper arms were very large on me while the bottom of the jacket was tight around my hips (and I am very slim-hipped). Sadly, I had to return it because it made me feel like a giant yeti.
A windproof plush jacket -- who wudda thunk it?! This is my favorite "around town" jacket when the wind is howling. It keeps me perfectly toasty and still stylish in 40-some degrees and 20+mph windgusts. It fits snug (beware!) so it can probably be layered under a shell or another jacket in colder temps. It seems too pretty to be a technical jacket, but the famous Mountain Hardware technical pedigree is all there. I'm not inclined to wear mine outdoors b/c of the color I got (off-white), but I can totally envision being cloaked in this jacket in (a darker color) while roasting marshmallows over a campfire or enjoying cowboy coffee in the Montana woods. It washes well, doesn't get matted down at all. Only downside is it looks like real fur... so I almost feel guilty wearing it for fear of promoting fur fashion! But until I get egged, I'm gonna keep reaching for it b/c it suits my active urban lifestyle in every way.
Like the other reviews say, it is super warm and windproof. The construction is GREAT - the lining is fused to the fur, and the pieces all stitched together. There's probably a better way to describe that, but it doesn't lose it's shape like cheapo lined jackets. It has princess seams for a better fit and does not seem bulky. I am 5'8", 130# (old navy sz 6 jeans)and I ordered medium, which zips with about 2" to spare around the butt. Probably TMI, ha. I can wear all but the bulkiest of sweaters under it; it is a pretty close fit. The sleeves are nice and long. I ordered the blue, and it looks great. It is less vibrant than I expected but looks great with most colors. The fur is super thick and plush, much thicker than anything in fabric stores. This is my favorite article of clothing. It makes me happpy every time I put it on!
I am very impressed with the style and warmth of this jacket. Have worn it out on many occassions like early morning walks in Sydney and weekends in Canberra (4 degrees temps). It has more than been well suited for weather. The ample number of pockets is very handy for phones, keys etc. For those of you who are looking for a smart cut in a jacket this is the one for you. Very nice. I have received so many compliments about it and will be sure to purchase another one next season.
Got this jacket for my sister. She LOVES it, it is warm and super-soft, but the medium was a little large on her. She is 5'7" with a slim, athletic build. She normally wears mediums in Patagonia gear, but needs the small in this jacket...
this fleece gives me instant warmth here with the coastal morning/evening damp, cold fog. i LOVE the plush softness and sporty/chic style, but especially dig the mountain hardwear technical features as stated above. just enough pockets, too. can't wait for colder weather and ski season to start so i can REALLY wear this beautiful yet technical jacket. we have hardwood & tile floors and wooden blinds (read: NO insulation) so i usually hate to get out of bed, much less go outside when it's cold but now i just step out of my warm robe into my glamourous technical jacket and i'm completely warm. i feel ready for whatever the weather throws at me!
