This is by far my favorite article of clothing I own. It is worth the cost. I wore this almost everyday during the winter and spring in Montana. It is warm for its light weight. The only drawback is that it can't be tightened at the bottom, but a shell over the top fixes the problem. The thumb holes make gloves much easier to put on without pushing the sleeves up.

Purchased for a warm layer when winter bicycling or 10F or lower snowboarding. It does a great job of wicking and providing warmth. I'm 5'11", 170lbs, 42" chest, 30" waist and the medium fits me well. With substantial stretch zones in the sides, chest and arms you could go a touch bigger than me and still fit a medium, snuggly. Unlike some other MH products it does have a longer cut to cover your beltline. It works great with my MH Tanglewood, which also has a longer waist cut. Wearing those two garments keeps me warm to 0F degrees (with other winter gear of course) when bicycling. Great gear and great customer service! I'll be buying another for backup soon.

Not only is this jacket comfortable, it is also practical and reliable. I have been in some pretty tough situations in cold conditions and this jacket served its purpose. I could wear it to bed or wear it climbing, that's how versatile it is. Your prices rock and your selection is bitchin.

This is an excellent layer, very warm, comfortable and compressible when stowed.

I initially bought a large size (as I have a Mountain Hardwear Monkey Man jacket, and a MH Alchemy jecket in this size) and it was way too big.

The medium fits me well - so be careful when ordering (size down if you are in doubt).

I will echo what most everyone here said already- the garment is unbelievably comfortable and almost too toasty for San Diego. I do have to choose when to wear it.
The only issue I have with it is the collar. It doesn't lie down like it should, and the zipper length seems a bit short, causing the collar to stand up like it does. Other than that, though, it is pretty awesome.

This is a great layer. Warm enough to wear with a light first layer underneath and breathable enough to layer under a shell on cold day. Only knock on this product is that I find that the thumb holes on the sleeves are in an ackward place that makes the sleeves twist around your arm instead of laying naturally, but it hardly noticable after it's on.

Got this a couple of months ago on sale. It's super soft, smooth, and plush, which are great, but with its softness comes delicateness. I'm always a bit worried about screwing up the fur. It's warm as nonsense and is even more wind resistant than I originally expected, but it ain't windproof. I live in mild North Carolina and this pullover is actually too warm for me to wear for most of the "winter," so I ended up very begrudgingly returning it. But if you're looking for a warm fleece this is definitely worth keeping in mind.

it's very warm and very light, perfect for everyday use, and a great layer for colder weather. it's the softest thing i have every put on. i wanna make an entire bed set outta this fleece.

Just bought this fleece a couple of days ago. The lowest the temperature has been so far was 35 and I didn't feel cold except my hands. Had a bad windstorm and it did allow some wind in but I think it will be perfect for those mornings and nights when there is a chill in the air. Plus this has to be one of the most comfortable things I have ever put on my body. The girls will have no problem snuggling up with you while wearing the monkey man.

Let's forget for one second that this thing keeps you toasty when you really need it. Let's forget that it fits me perfectly and has thumb holes (one of the little things in life that makes my insides smile). Even if all that wasn't true, this jacket would be worth it simply for the feeling of the fabric. I got this jacket on Friday. It's now Tuesday and this jacket has yet to see my floor/closet/hamper

I wore this fleece on Patagonia Capilene 2 baselayer and put Latok shell and skied all day in 15F degree. It kept me warm all the time. Only place I felt cold was my face. ^^

Today, I skied in -8F degree I wore Monkey and Capilene 4 and Capilene 2 and Latok and ski jacket. I was sweating while my face was numb.

Like the title says, this is the most comfortable jacket I have. I liked this jacket so much i bought one for my lil brother. If you are looking for a light, warm, casual jacket, this one's for you.

The first thing I have to mention about this jacket is how comfortable it is... its so super soft!! I also love the ability it has to stretch all over, making it easy on and off. Works perfect as a baselayer/liner as it is super warm and pretty light as well. I am really happy with my decision to get one.

I bought this jacket to replace my TNF Denali jacket as a main fleece in winter conditions when weight is not a factor. The jacket has as much loft as my 200 weight Polartec fleece pieces, but it is softer and noticeably warmer. It also fits underneath my softshell jacket nicely. The Powerstretch fleece is a nice touch to increase venting.

There are a few problems though. I am between sizes and a medium was not snug enough. I ended up with a small, but the sleeves are about .25 to .5 inches too short to use the thumbholes effectively. Finally, the collar elastic is unnecessary and I will probably remove it. Hand pockets would be nice, that would decrease the simplicity of the garment.

I think for backpacking this one is better then the full zip. The arm pits are better built then the full zip so they are not going to ware through. Both do an amazing job keeping you warm, as long as you don't have problem with wind or you layer it. I use this for SAR and on those cold nights it works great as an layer with my sleeping bag or as a nice warm place to up your head. Great product and I would get another one.

I have the blue/purple monkey man. i used it as a mid layer while riding at park city and the canyons. also use it many times while backpacking on the AT and on the MST in western NC. this is so light and warm it is always the first thing i put in my pack no matter what time of year i decide to hit the trail. O and just so you know you might just find random girls coming up to pet your monkey phur.

I love the monkey man fleece zip! It's very soft and comfortable. I'm about 5'6", 140lbs and size small is snug and fit. It's great for layering or wearing it over a T-shirt on a cool Southern Cali day. You cannot beat the lifetime warranty as well.

This fleece is sick! It keeps you as warm as a bear in hibernation and the fleece is as soft if not softer than a bear cubs! Check this out and you will be amazed at the difference in how functional this fleece is. Keeps you as warm as bulkier fleece's and is softer than anything out there! The price is well worth it!

This fleece has a nice trim fit and the neck area fits the best of any jacket I own (snug but not tight). Its incredibly warm as well, I find I’m warm in this jacket in the 20’s with a good brisk hike. For low level activity (in my case putting up lights around the house), I find its warm to the low 30’s. That could just be that I run hot but needless to say, it’s a warm fleece. While not technically windproof, the front of the jacket does a good job blocking a cold wind (though you’ll feel it on your arms). Pockets are also great, they extend high up on the chest and allow you to store items like climbing skins or similar items. Highly recommended!

Well despite the girlyish long fleece and low-cut neck line....the Monkey Man is a awesome fleece 1/4 zip that breathes well in the pit area and is plenty warm on those freezing days. I Love it.

This is the most amazing fleece ever!! super comfortable, very warm, great fit, and looks really sharp! i wore it to a party and all kinds of girls kept rubbing me because the jacket is so soft and fuzzy, kinda like a teddy bear. i love mountain hardwear and this is the best product i have bought from them yet. runs a bit small, i am 5'6 and 145 and bought a small and fits me perfectly.

nice, warm layer. good use as either a baselayer or over a tshirt on a warmer day. i had to try on a few of the same size to get a good fit; it appeared that there were minor differences in the cut. i can see why some have probs w/ the thumbholes, but i think they're just fine. i can see myself wearing this all the time!

I have to give it five stars because it is such high quality and so comfortable, but I still can't see why anyone would get the T instead of the jacket. The incredibly soft fabric makes you constantly want front pockets, but they're not there. And the collars a bit weird. I would have gotten the jacket but I found this way on sale. Also, somebody said the neck was too large ...? There's a cinch on it with a drawstring toggle. I'm satisfied.

love it. I am 6'2''and 240lbs. the xxl is plenty of room. warm but not hot, and soft as a puppy(kitten? rabbit?) As previously said, wear it with a wind breaker and this would be warm to the 20s. My only complaint is i wish it had hand pockets, but the pocket in the front i use for my cell phone. overall love this thing, i look forward to weather to wear it.

I love this garment. The only negative is that I wore it to drive my car recently, and the seat and shoulder belts matted the "hair" texture of the fabric. I tried to scratch it back to original, and washed it. The texture appears to have been permanently altered where the belts crossed the fabric.

I will buy others --jacket and pullover. I just won't wear them to drive a car.

I'm 5'10" 185 lbs 44 inch chest. I made the mistake and bought a medium and it is definitely too small. It was way too snug so I'm going to have to exchange it for a large.

I have been using this in combination with my Mountain Hardwear Kramer jacket. Wearing this, a simple wick away tee shirt, and by Kramer softshell I was warm in temperatures well below freezing. The drawcord on the neck comes in handy to help lock out any wind or cold one might pick up during a quick run down the mountain. Other than the tightness from the thumbholes in the sleeves while wearing gloves, this was a great purchase. Performs better than a traditional full zip fleece jacket.

Fit is great. Super warm. Great design with the thumb gussets. Incredibly soft and comfortable and works great as a backcountry pillow.

This is an all a round awesome fleece. Great for climbing in cool weather or chillin at the camp fire with your lady.

I really wanted to like this pullover, but unfortunately the neck, even when fully zipped, seemed too large and wide open. I was afraid of cool drafts or worse, being able to get down the neck too easily, so unfortunately I had to return this.
