Mountain Hardwear Micro Ozone Zip T-Shirt - Men's - 2007
The Mountain Hardwear Micro Ozone Zip T-Shirt is perfect as a light insulation layer, thanks to its Polartec Wind Pro Microfleece material that cuts down on wind chill without weighing you down or sweating you out. Though designed for backcountry use, the Micro Ozone also makes an entirely capable and comfortable everyday piece, thanks to flatlocked seams and a 12" front zipper for venting and looks.
Even though I'm a woman, I ordered this shirt and I'm so glad that I did! I love it. It has saved me twice already this summer. Hiked up to the top of Lake Katherine near Santa Fe, NM (16 miles roundtrip) and it hailed and rained on us. I put on my zip T underneath my rain jacket and it kept me cozy. Same thing a week later on a mountain bike ride (25 miles) in the Jemez Mountains near Los Alamos, NM. Kept my body warm. I love it!!!!
This is my new favorite top. I wore it every evening on a summer trip to Idaho and I think it will get me through all but the coldest of a Georgia winter. It's so comfortable it just begs you to put it on.
I use this as an insulation layer on more mild days. The material is very soft and comfortable. I have the grey / black color and it even works as a casual layer. I like the fact that it is not very thin but not very thick making its' medium density perfect as a mid layer over a base layer and under a shell on most days between 20 and 45 degrees. It even blocks a light wind. Although I've mainly used it skiing it also works nicely for out on the trail over a t-shirt as a light fleece.
This is one soft fleece with an amazing ability to generate static electricity when slipping over your head. It's cozy and warm enough, though, that you will love wearing it as a substitute to a light sweater. I haven't used it for intense physical activity, so can't comment on its performance there. The jacket is a quite thin/lightweight fabric.
This is a great shirt!!!! But I had to buy last year's model for the proper fit. I originally ordered a large, but it seems I got a newer ozone model with the logo on the front of the shirt near the collar...was disappointed with the baggy fit. I returned it for an older model with the logo on the left sleeve near the shoulder, and the fit is devine!!! So remember people...the sizing recommendations are for the older ozones with the logo on the sleeve...beware of the newer ozones...they are cut bigger. Love my older buttery Ozone Zip T. It rocks and looks sharp!!!!
This is one comfy, lightweight, warm and good looking fleece. Highly recommended for travelling in warmer countries as it's easy to fit in the pack and you don't need much else. Good for a base layer when hitting the slopes on a particularly cold day too!
I love the material and it does a real good job with light to medium winds.
I originally bought a MED because I'm a perfect Medium in North Face but this was a little small in the sleeves primarily - I'm 5'11" 175 w/ broad shoulders, slender. I bought the large which fit better but I lost the seal around my neck. I use the medium with a compression tee and the LG as more of a mid with a long-sleeve base.
It's thin and light and does a great job of keeping me comfortable. So I can wear it outside when it's chilly, but I don't have to take it off when I come in.
I was looking for a zip-tee made of Polartec WindPro, and was delighted to find that Mountain Hardware had one. I love this fabric. It is really luxurious, comfortable and exceeds my expectations. Though the warmth is comparable to Polartec 100 under a shell, I often dont need to wear an outer layer because of this fabrics wind-resistance. A couple of comments suggested going a size up because of the alpine cut but I found that unnecessary. The cut is good, except the sleeves are rather relaxed. I bought this for an extended Bike Tour and decided not to take it because I like it so much. It has all the qualities of a winner in look, feel, comfort and function. This was a great find!
