Mountain Hardwear Mesa Pant - Men's

The Mountain Hardwear Men's durable Mesa Pants protect your legs as you climb through desert canyons. The Mesa Pants' articulated knees and full length inseam gusset keep you comfortable as you bend down to take a close-up shot of the blooming cactus, and Mountain Hardwear's micro-chamois-lined waist prevents your backpack's waist-belt from chaffing as you hike the trail. The Mesa Pants' velvetex lining keeps these nylon pants feeling smooth, and side cargo pockets hold energy bars for mid-trail pitstops.

Bottom Line: Hike down the desert wash in the comfortable, durable Mountain Hardwear Men's Mesa Pants.

Lightweight and durable

I am 33 waist and 30 inseam, and medium short fits perfectly. The medium regular length is also acceptable as long as you remember to cinch up the bottom so you don't kick dirt inside your pants while you walk.

Material is super light and breathable. Because the material is light and "thin" it seems to breathe much better than my other North Face Paramount convertibles. It is also astonishingly durable for its weight. I've had a previous pair for about a year now, and it has withstood bushwhacking. The DWR is also of good quality and I've not had to renew that to date (not so with the North Face pants I have).

The best part of these pants are the cinches at the bottom of the leg. The drawstring is stowed away in a separate compartment at the bottom of your leg to prevent the string or cinch from brushing up against your leg as you move. Excellent and well designed feature.

These pants not only perform well, they also look cool around town because it fits well. The great fit is due to the articulated knees.

Overall, these are my preferred pair of pants for hitting the trail. I regret buying the over-popular North Face Pararmount pants. It's doesn't even come close to this one.

Mesa Pant

Great pants but they definitely run small by about a size. If you wear a medium normally, think about a large.

Lightweight & Comfy

These are a great warm weather pant. I use them for camping, climbing and hiking. They dry quickly and wick moisture. If I use them in colder conditions I usually throw on a base layer, such as The North Face XTC Lightweight Tight. I do like the drawstring for hiking up the cuffs when I'm climbing. I wear a 30-32 waist/30 inseam and the Medium Short fits perfect.

Great for hiking!

They are nice and lightweight, and they keep you dry and repel dirt. With a base layer I have used them in colder climates and stayed comfortable. The integrated belt is comfortable under your pack's hip belt. Thinking of getting an extra pair!

Lightweight and strong

I have to disagree with Richard; i'm 6'2 185, 32/33 and bought a large, which sits a bit loose for my tastes. Then again, I'm lanky. Otherwise this is my hot weather pant for climbing and hiking. This pant was awesome in the muggy NE summers. I'm a big fan of the cargo pocket on the side for random crap and the adjustable nylon belt.
