Mountain Hardwear Lyell -15 Sleeping Bag: -15 Degree Down

For bone-chillingly cold nights, the Mountain Hardwear Lyell Sleeping Bag gives you a lofty layer of 600-fill goose down to separate your warm body from the frigid outside air. The comfortable mummy cut efficiently holds in heat without constricting your movement, and 5-inch baffle spacings keep the insulation evenly distributed. Mountain Hardwear also added an ergonomic face gasket and an insulated draft collar and draft tube to hold in precious warmth.

Bottom Line: Your own personal force field of warmth.

Lyell SL - Great bag!!

By:
June 27, 2009

Last years version Lyell SL worked great on my hike up Cerro Aconcagua, kept me really warm at around -10F and the bag remained dry on the inside at all times, most other bags were soaked. Awesome bag. All I recomend is getting a compression sack, the one provided is not too good.

I heard from other sites that this bag has a conduit membrane,

I heard from other sites that this bag has a conduit membrane, but there's nothing here about that. Which one is the typo? And if it does have the conduit membrane, is it actually that breathable or will I wake up in an ice pack of frozen feathers? Any help would be awesome, thanks.

The description here is correct, and the Conduit description on other sites is also likely correct. Here's why: there are two versions of the Lyell -15 bag. The older version is the Lyell -15 SL. "SL" signifies the use of the Conduit SL shell fabric. The new 2009 version does not have the Conduit SL shell fabric and uses a 30D/359T breathable nylon ripstop fabric with a DWR finish. Why Mountain Hardwear made the change from the SL to this shell fabric is unclear. Both are breathable, though, so it's unlikely you will wake up in a bed of frosty feathers.

Awesome bag

By:
August 19, 2009

I haven't used this bag out in the mountains yet but the first day I got it in the mail I just had to jump into it and after 5 min I had to jump out because I started sweating so I'm looking forward to using this bag this fall. I'm 5'8" 200 lbs muscular build and I hope I won't get too much bigger or I'll have to buy an expansion thing for it or something. The hood of the bag is great I almost got closter fobic because it mummied me up so good.
