Mountain Hardwear Hooded Compressor Insulated Jacket - Men's

The Mountain Hardwear Men's Hooded Compressor Jacket is the super hero of synthetic insulated jackets. This Mountain Hardwear jacket not only provides excellent warmth for its weight, compresses easily, and blocks wetness, but it is also kind to the planet. Mountain Hardwear stuffed it with lightweight Primaloft ECO insulation, which boasts an earth-friendly mix of recycled and virgin polyester fibers.

  • Lightweight Primaloft ECO insulation provides high-loft warmth, water resistance, and eco-friendly construction
  • Highly compressible for packability
  • Insulated Ergo hood fits over helmets
  • Micro-Chamois-lined chin guard prevents chafing
  • Inner elastic cuffs seal in warmth
  • Durable Water Resistant (DWR) finish repels water

Bottom Line: Warm, packable and Green.

Looking for a light weight jacket that will keep me warm as I walk to and from work and around campus on cold winter days. I live in a place thats pretty snowy, and moist in the winter (near Lake Ontario).

Daneil. If you want to go with a jacket that is synthetic and not down the Compressor would be a great choice. If you want to go with a little bit warmer jacket... check out the Alcove Jacket from Mountain Hardwear as well. The Compressor has 120grams of Primaloft for insulation. The Alcove has 200grams... so it will be a little warmer but also heavier. If you want to keep it light... look no further than the Compressor. Hope this info helps!

So far, so good...

Just got this and so far I'm pleased. It's early autumn in DC so not really cold enough to need this jacket yet.

As for fit: I'm 5'10" 220# and take a 46S jacket and the XL fits me very nicely. Not too baggy or too tight. It's definitely thinner than other insulating layers I have, but felt pretty good under the MH Exposure II parka. I wouldn't dare wear this jacket by itself though: the 15D looks like it wouldn't take much to tear it, ripstop or not.

The real test will be when I take this up Kilimanjaro next year.
