Mountain Hardwear Hammerhead 2 Tent 2-Person 3-Season

The Hammerhead 2 Tent has been Mountain Hardwear’s best-selling summer shelter for good reason—lots of space, dual vestibules, and tons of mesh to keep inside temps cool. Hit the trails and throw up this Mountain Hardwear tent when you get to camp, and you’ll see for yourself.

  • Dual doors for easy entry and exit
  • Fully taped fly to ensure no leaks
  • Pitch Light configuration lets you use the fly and available footprint together
  • SVX windows increase interior light and let you check the weather
  • Color coded poles and clips allow quick and easy pitching

Bottom Line: The one everyone wants.

once the door is open, the vestibule is not large enough to keep out the rain...

Good but not great

I purchased the Hammerhead 2 a year or so ago, and I have been on several car camping weekends with it. The tent is structurally sound and there is fair amount of room inside. The two person tent is just that, but barely. It is not exactly light, and the dimensions of the tent when packed is a little too big for my liking.

Overall, for the money the tent is not bad. I think I will be looking for a lighter tent in the coming months though.

Great summer tent.

this is a good temt, but I find the vestibules are not quite roomy enough for the gear you want to store outside. Also, the vestibules are not quite adequate for cooking from if the weather is not ideal.
I think there are lighter weight options out there for this tents size, just barely enough room for 2 adults.

That said, the tent is easy to set up, comfortable to use and is holding up well. ...a good choice for an easy weekend pack trip in summer or fair conditions.
