When you head out to ski beyond the restrictive headaches of lift passes, giant lodges, and neon-clad beaters, pull on the Mountain Hardwear Men’s Freeride Pant and strike off in search of backcountry gold. This insulated ski pant blocks moisture and keeps you toasty as you rip through massive powder stashes. Mountain Hardwear built the Freeride with a Conduit-laminated nylon shell and PrimaLoft One insulation for warm protection from harsh backcountry conditions. Ankle gaiters seal out giant snow blasts, and the welded side vent zips let you dump heat on the long skin up. Articulated knees keep you poised for action, and the Ambush cuff guard stands up to sharp ski edges and boot scrapes.
Bottom Line: Ride free from in-bounds distractions in this pant.
How do these pants fit in the seat & thighs? I have a 31 inch waist but large muscular thighs & have found many medium pants too snug. Should I get a medium or large?
I was given these pants from my older brother who had bought them and only used them about once before he out grew them. I have gotten to use them dozens of times and have found that if I end up putting a hole in them or out grow them I'm definably going to get another pair. They are a great buy and you wont regret it.
These pants are great! The primaloft is just enough insulation to keep the chill off, but when it warms up the vents do the trick. The fit is relaxed, but the waist is adjustable and there are suspenders. These pants rock!
For this item I see two separate pants displayed each in a different color. The black ones are a full bib and the grey ones are a regular pant with suspenders. Which one would I be getting? I'm much more interested in the full bibs and that's what attracted me to the ad.Thanks
The Black Pants are the Synchro Bibs! The 'Grill' color is the correct Freeride Pant. I will contact Backcountry and let them know the wrong picture is up! Thanks.Just to add as an extra bit of info, the suspenders are easily removable but remain in place very well if you do want them there too.
I gave 5 stars despite the fact that it wasn't the kind of pant I was looking for (Ill expand on this later). And also, despite the fact that I had horrible luck with my first shipment having been lost by USPS. Backcountry is a great company and tried everything to make it right by us. For that I thank them and wanted to let them know that theyve earned my business anytime. A great group of folks work for this company. I was really, really impressed!
Now the pants I tried them on. I didnt take them for a ride but tried them on indoors. Im an XL. I bought a pair for my brother too (hes an L). The pants (in both sizes XL and L) felt and fit perfectly ONLY IF you dont mind the baggy, larger, tubular modern tailoring. And thats what we DID NOT like! Everything else about these pants was absolutely great! I wept having to send them back.
It seems to me that its becoming increasingly difficult to find SKI pants (not SNOWBOARDING looking SKI pants) which look like SKI PANTS. The baggy, snowboarding type of design seems to be the norm nowadays. I personally dont like it. It might be the age group but I dont like it. So if these pants had a more streamlined, conical design, I would have purchased a whole case of them hence the 5 stars I decided to award them. For the price you cannot beat the quality if you can ignore the big, fat look ;) I couldn't...
