Mountain Hardwear Epic Jacket - Women's - 2005

The Mountain Hardwear Women's Epic Jacket is a ridiculously lightweight outer shell with the technical features to see you through wet conditions. Mountain Hardwear combined Epic ripstop face fabric and Epic stretch nylon paneling to produce a jacket that is super supple, soft to the touch, and noticeably lacking in that stiff, crinkly feel common to most waterproof pieces. Nicely breathable, this ultralight backcountry jacket is perfect for tossing in your bag as an extra layer. The Epic has a hood with one-handed hem and hood adjustment cords, and laminated cuff tabs to help protect you from the elements. Once you're moving and warming up, extra-long underarm zips help regulate your temperature. Waterproof breathable stretch panels give you full range of motion while keeping you dry and comfortable.

Bottom Line: You'll always be prepared for spring's fickle weather with the Mountain Hardwear Epic Jacket.

very lightweight

Love the jacket, it's lightweight and easily squishes into my bag when not in use. The only problem is that the zipper is only one way and I'm a big fan of unzipping from the bottom. Otherwise, I love it!

Tough yet beautiful

By:

This jacket is very lightweight, yet constructed of tough, water resistant ripstop fabric that is not too soft, not too brittle. Love the muted, tarnished green color -- not as boring as khaki but also not too pastel/candy colored or acid bright like everything else this season -- it mixes with everything. Mountain Hardware really hit it with the styling -- feminine enough to fit well but not too consciously stylish. Just enough zip pockets in the right places without looking like a photographer's jacket like so many other designs. Have worn it just about every day since I received it!!

Great jacket

This jacket is awesome for backpacking outings where some rain protection may be needed. Very lightweight and packs up small. The fit is very flattering also.

Walking Shelter

By:
March 29, 2004

I love this jacket. In the style department, it garners at least one compliment per week. On my morning walks it is light enough to wear everyday. On the west coast a sunny morning can turn into a drizzle or a downpour in a snap. When I lock the jacket down (hood on and zippered to the hilt) I feel like I'm a walking shelter from the rainy elements.

Disappointed

By:
September 9, 2004

I loved my old Marmot - which truly DID feel "supple". No crinkly noises that I am getting with this jacket. I personally don't see the value in this $125.00 jacket over jackets I have seen at my local outfitter for $60.00.
Haven't been through a downpour yet.... hopefully it performs better than it looks and feels.
