Mountain Hardwear Downtown Down Coat - Women's

Down is just as functional on the city streets as it is in the mountains, which is why Mountain Hardwear designed the Women’s Downtown Down Coat. This long-length puffy feature toasty 650-fill goose down and a plush fleece lining for big-time winter comfort. The insulated, removable hood features faux-fur trim for some urban style.

Bottom Line: Take down to the town.

Very nice fitting coat

I bought a small and I am 5'6.5" and 130 lbs and I agree, it fits with lots of layers underneath it as well. The sleeves are barely on the cusp of being short for me, but I think I have long arms. I realized that if I bought the medium, there are cinches in the waist that could make it fit better, however, I decided to stick with the small. I was disappointed to see that there were no thumbholes as well, but I did like how there is a stretchy elastic cuff to make sure wind and the elements doesn't blow straight up your arm. I also haven't had the chance to test it in the blisteringly cold Chicago winter yet, but I really like it so far.

Great coat!

I just got this coat in the mail a few days ago and I love it. I am 5'6 and weigh about 115 lbs. I got the Small and it fits well even with layers. It also has a draw string around the waste for a nice hour glass shape. The hood fits well and is very comfortable. The fur is removable which is an added plus. The coat does not come with thumb loops though as advertised on their website and the coat's tag.
It isn't really cold enough yet to test the coats ability to keep me warm but as far as comfort and style I really like it!

What is the major improvement or difference from 2008 model?

What is the major improvement or difference from 2008 model? I could see the removable trim on the hood but what else? Is it puffier and warmer? I own Mountain Hardwear Sub Zero Jacket 650 fill and it is very warm and very puffy. I don't mind the puffiness at all because I hate being cold. When I tried the 2008 model, although it was 650 fill, it wasn't warm enough, so I had to return. I want to know if this year's model is similar to Sub Zero Jacket in turms of warmth.

Coconut. This is a re-design from last years model, new lines and all, and I think you will find it a bit warmer as well. The amount of down in the jacket was slightly increased which will help a bit with the warmth. Very different jackets... Sub Zero vs. DownTown Coat and due to the extra length and increase in down you'll find the DownTown to be a bit warmer. Hope this info helps!

Yes and you can verify this on Mountain Hardware website. I actually tried coat on in a store. What's nice is the panels on the side (along the waist) give this coat a more flattering look rather than going straight down.

Marcie. This coat is 36" from the seam at the bottom of the collar to the hem of the jacket in the back. This is called the 'center back length' and is how jackets are measured in length. Hope this helps!
