Montrail Molokai Flip Sandal - Men's

Few things feel as good as flip-flops do after a burly hike, so make sure you always have the Montrail Men’s Molokai Flip Sandal at the ready. Unlike other casual sandals, these Montrail flips use hydrophobic fabrics, so you can get them completely soaked without any worry, and they’ll dry far faster after a dunk. Recyclonite soles use 30% recycled materials to help save the planet you live on and play on.

Bottom Line: Exactly what you want when you unlace your boots.

Heat Moldable!

I wanted to add to the above copy that these sandals are indeed heat (thermo) moldable which makes them some of the most comfortable sandals I have ever worn especially after a long day of cycling and running. All the instructions for molding them yourself come with the sandals of course. Enjoy!

Take 2

This is the second pair I bought after I totally loved the first pair. See my first review below. Since then, I have molded them in the oven, and I love them even more. They were comfortable before, but now they are like buttah (say this like the lady from Coffee Talk for best effect)! The black ones show the dirt better, so I have to clean them once in a while, but that's hardly a negative. I would suggest these for anyone.

Kathy. You might be able to special order them from Backcountry or your local Montrail dealer. We make large sizes in the Molokai Backcountry just does not have that size in right now. Good luck!

If it is not an option in the Select Options drop down menu then they do not have that size. Looks like the biggest they have is a 13

not the same ol' Molokai

By:
July 16, 2009

I had, loved, completely wore out the previous version of this sandal (model GM1121). This new version (model GM2066) is no good for me, despite having the same foot support that I loved in the old version. The between-toes strap is now shorter, causing the across-the-foot straps to ride differently than the old version, which causes a seam to dig into the top of my foot. After one day of wearing the new version, I had significant chafing on the tops of both feet, making the sandals unwearable. This doesn't seem to be an issue for all folks (see other reviews here), but there are a few reviews similar to mine on other shoe sites. I contacted Montrail about the issue, but no response (yet).

However, Backcountry's service was great. They were willing to take the sandals back -- no questions asked -- despite me having already worn them for a day. Buy from Backcountry without hesitation.

Just to confuse things abit . . . I am distinctly 10.5 via measurement and have owned a half dozen or so size 10. The 11s were waaaaay long for me, but this is with previous years models. Don't know about the 2009s. My wife also sizes down with the Moloka'i and generally up with other shoes. Good luck!

I would go with ten, it's more ideal to have a little extra room in a sandal.

Highly Recommended for Orthodic Wearers

Due to having flat feet and tender heels, I have not been able to wear flip flops since I was about 8. These are different. Not only do they have a really great arch to keep my foot from slipping off the inner part of the shoe (as flat flip flops allow my feet to do), they have a great molded shape that keeps my foot in position. The foot bed is a soft material that can be further fitted by heating. I have not yet done this, and am perfectly happy the way they are. I may try the molding process at some later date.

If you have flat feet and have been avoiding flip flops, BUY THESE!

Montrail Molokai

By:
June 2, 2009

Super plush. Heat moldable. I normally wear a 10.5 to 11, but had to get the 12's. I am on my 3rd pair, and these are the only sandals I wear now. The seem to last pretty well. A bit big and funky looking (not a minimalist sandal by any stretch), but waaayyyyy comfy. By the way, did I say they were comfy ?
