Montrail Mojave XCR Day Hiking Shoe - Women's - 2006

The Montrail Mojave XCR is a versatile waterproof trail shoe that's equally at home fastpacking and day hiking. Deep lugs give the Mojave killer traction on rock and everything up to moderate technical terrain. A full-length TerraFlex plate protects your foot from jagged stuff and helps with stability. A gusseted tongue ensures the only dampness you'll have worry about is water over your ankle, since Gore-Tex XCR breathes to let sweat out and won't let dampness in, be it snow, dew, or rain. For all around off-road walking and hiking, the Mojave won't desert you.

Bottom Line: For hikers overcoming speed addictions.

Tough, but breathable

The Mojave XCR Day Hiking Shoe was stiff at first, but quickly molded to my feet for a comfortable fit. My feet have stayed dry in nasty wet and/or snowy weather. The traction is great, and the shoes are breathable, making them a great all season shoe.

Set out to get a pair of trail runners for light weight/long distance hikes (10 - 20 miles/day). Tried on the Montrail Mojave XCR's and fell in love. I hesitated to even try these on, the looks were okay, but glad I did!!! Light as a trail runner (close enough anyway), but sturdy like a boot and as comfortable as a Cadillac. The traction is fantastic on slippery and uneven surfaces. The keep your foot locked into place, no pressure, no sliding, and no blisters. The only thing was, I had to up it a 1/2 of a size. And the Gore-Tex always a bonus…
