Montrail Mojave XCR Day Hiking Shoe - Men's - 2006

The Montrail Mojave XCR is a versatile waterproof trail shoe that's equally at home fastpacking and day hiking. Deep lugs give the Mojave killer traction on rock and everything up to moderate technical terrain. A full-length TerraFlex plate protects your foot from jagged stuff and helps with stability. A gusseted tongue ensures the only dampness you'll have worry about is water over your ankle, since Gore-Tex XCR breathes to let sweat out and won't let dampness in, be it snow, dew, or rain. For all around off-road walking and hiking, the Mojave won't desert you.

Bottom Line: For hikers overcoming speed addictions.

Mojave XCR Day Hiking

By:

These boots are simply awesome. This is my second pair and these are even nicer than the first. They are lite for seed hiking, you can run in them if you must, and they are waterproof. These are the closest thing to a trail runner while actually being a sturdy boot. A++

Great all-around hiking shoe

By:
June 29, 2005

I love these shoes. They are perfect for both short and longer day hiking trips. They seem to be a little narrow, but overall run pretty true to size. They provide great support for the arches. Just an overall amazing shoe...as long as your feet aren't real wide.

Kick-butt shoes

By:

I bought these for my boyfriend for Christmas. He is absolutely in love with them. They're great for hiking, a comfortable (and true) fit, and he even wore them while bouldering. No need to even slap on climbing shoes. The grip like a champ.

Great shoes

I have been breaking in my shoes and have notice that they don't need much at all. The best hiking shoe I have ever worn. Thanks, and I look forward to many great hiking adventures that I’ll have in these shoes.

Mojave XCR Day Hiking Shoe is perfect for this vegan

By:
December 8, 2006

As a 17-year vegan, I have had to search far and wide to find a decent pair of hiking shoes. I finally found them with the Mojave XCR Day Hiking Shoe. I was a bit reluctant to shell out over $100 for a pair of hiking shoes, but I could not be happier with them. I have worn them daily over 4 months, two months of which were spent in a long road trip across country with numerous hikes in all types of terrain.
I also have a difficult time finding shoes that fit properly, so I was a bit reluctant to order online, but backcountry.com assured me that I could wear them until I was sure the fit was right. That convinced me to order the shoes. Perfect fit. Perfect shoe.

Montrail Mojave XCR Day Hiker

By:
May 19, 2006

I am long a fan of Montrail dating back to when they were called One Sport. The lasts they use are more suited to my feet with large toe boxes as opposed to the European shoes which tend to have shorter, tighter space up front. These shoes fit right and have snug lateral support which keeps them from feeling loose and sloppy after an hour or so on the trail. I wish they would return to some of the basics with their mountaineering boots (remember the old Moraine?), but the Mojave XCR and the Torre GTX fit the bill for day hikes and light backpacking or approach hikes.
