MontBell U.L. Alpine Down Hugger #3 Sleeping Bag: 30 Degree Down - 2008

With the U.L. Alpine Down Hugger #3 Sleeping Bag, MontBell gives you a super lightweight option for spring through fall backpacking. This 30-degree down bag's elasticized construction hugs your body to increase warmth without restricting your movement or reducing the bag's loft. 800-fill down ensures comfort in a wide range of temperatures down to about 30F, and vertical baffles along the torso keep the insulation around your core. DWR-coated Ballistic Airlight nylon retains this mummy bag's 800-fill down and resists drips from tent or tarp walls. Shorter users can close off the last baffle, reducing the amount of empty space.

Bottom Line: Go fast. Go light. Go with MontBell's Alpine Down Hugger #3.

Light as air

By:

Light as air. In the stuff sack it takes up about as much space as a nerf football. The bag take up less than half the space of my North Face Cat's Meow synthetic. Used it in 20 degree temps, in an early October snow storm at 10,500 ft in the Sierras. It's clearly not meant for those conditions (my mistake in packing the wrong bag), but with most of my clothing on I had a comfortable night.

Great bag but tight

By:
December 29, 2008

I bought this bag to shave OZ off my pack weight. I am a warm sleeper and used this bag in the low 30's and slept warm and toasty in just my b-day suit. Packs incredibly small and light. The stuff sack it comes with has integrated compression. The stuff sack is a bit tight at first but once you get the hang of it you will love it. The bag it self is much narrower than the other super stretch bags which surprised me, but this is what makes is so warm, light, and tiny pack size! If you get claustrophobic in a mummy this is NOT the bag for you. I think i could use this bag in much colder temps if i wore some cloths in it.

Happy camper

Camping in the mountains in Japan I didn't even know the temp had dropped until my nose began to freeze. I love this bag.

Montbell Down Stretch Bag

By:
June 9, 2008

I do not like mummy sleeping bags as they are too confining, BUT, this has the benefits in weight and warmth, yet the give makes it feel like a rectangular bag. ZZZZZZZZZ!
