MontBell Super Stretch Burrow #3 Sleeping Bag: 32 Degree Synthetic - 2008

Stay warm and sleep tight on wet fall or spring backpacking trips with the Super Stretch Burrow #3 30-Degree Synthetic Sleeping Bag. MontBell's Exceloft synthetic insulation stays warm when wet, ensuring this lightweight sleeping bag's 30-degree temperature rating even after days of paddling or trekking in cold, wet weather. Elastic seams keep the Burrow #3 Sleeping Bag's insulation close to your body to eliminate heat-robbing dead air. Shorter users can seal the last eight-inch baffle at the feet to further improve fit and thermal efficiency.

Bottom Line: Whether you're paddling in the Puget Sound or backpacking in Glacier National Park, the Super Stretch Burrow #3 keeps you warm and toasty at night.

Big Guy friendly.

By:
October 22, 2009

I am a bigger guy 6'1'' 230lbs. I have a 61'' shoulder circumference. And I had a really hard time finding a bag that would fit me, and was still small enough, and warm enough, and still hit my budget. This bag worked great from me. The rating felt pretty spot on. Great bag, glad I found it, cleans up well after a week in wet, muddy weather. Super pleased, fit snug but could still move around in it. great choice!

I would go for the western mountaineering megalite. It's not terribly narrow and it only weighs 24 ounces

Very nice bag

By:

I recently took this bag with me on a backpacking trip in colorado. I was very impressed with this bag's performance. It packs up very small, especially considering mine is a long. I like the stuff sack it comes with; it's got two stages to it that make it easier to get it in there. The nights on this trip were generally in the low 40's, and I was perfectly comfortable (if not a little warm at times) in just underoos and socks. Oh and I really like the elastic around the baffles that let the bag stretch way out. I can sit cross legged in it no problem. A synthetic that packs down this small, weights less than 3 lbs, and keeps me warm is worth more than what they're charging in my opinion

All the MontBell sleeping bags have full length zippers. I think the "half zip" phase is finally over.

Problem: No Draft Tube allow free flow of Cold Air into bag

By:
February 23, 2009

My experience was similar to reviewer Bryan Bennett re: draft tube, in that I have the same complaint about the lack of a draft tube, but I found, unlike Bryan, that it was a pretty big deal: when I moved around at all cold air flowed freely into the bag.

Survived a Soaker

I managed to get stormed on out in the desert which led to 36 hours of amphibious tent living before I could get on with my life. This bag was a trooper! The wet nights got pretty cold but I stayed toasty warm despite the conditions. Once the sun broke, the bag dried out in roughly half and hour while laid out over some sagebrush looking plants. Good thing too because the next burst of weather was on its way. The bag stuffs down to the size of fat, stumpy loaf of bread in the provided sack and I am willing to bet that you could crush it down further in a suitable compression sack. I consider the weight to be a non factor in my pack and would recommend this bag to anyone looking for a 3 season mountain/desert fart sack.

My fav 3 season bag

June 10, 2008

I've been using mine for a couple weeks now and its one of my favorite sleeping bags so far. I've used it down to 25 deg F or so and was pretty comfortable (I am a cold sleeper). It packs down well and is soft. Not as small as the down option, but its the price you pay for synthetic. I slept in some pretty wet spots and found the bag to be quite water resistant. I am a skinny guy (130 lbs) and its plenty roomy, but still hugs me all night long. My only complaint is that it has no draft tube. This turned out to not be a big deal because the bag forces the zipper outward naturally and insulation blocks it.
