Moment Comi-Kazi Alpine Ski - 2008

Moment designed the ultra-fat Comi-Kazi Alpine Ski for suicide bombing steep pow lines and cliff drops. This ski features a huge 160-mm, rockered tip that stays on top no matter how deep the snow and initiates turns on a dime. The fat waist makes touching down from big hits easy. The tip rocker and relatively straight sidecut from the waist to the tail mean the Comi-Kazi skis shorter than its 192cm length would suggest. The Moment crew also made this board available in a swallow tail for even more smeary, surfy agility in soft snow.

Bottom Line: Strap into the Moment Comi Kazi Alpine Ski for your next bombing mission.

Middle of ski to tail

This shows how much camber there is underfoot (not a lot) and the profile towards the tail.

Ski powder boards

The Comi-Kazi was my go-to powder ski last season and put a good 15+ days on them. The swallowtail really helps sink the tail down and combined with 54cm of tip rocker (contrary to what the blurb above reads), you'll never find yourself struggling to stay afloat in the deepest of snow. Flex is fairly soft (medium-soft underfoot) such that I would never again take this ski out in anything but soft snow. Suggested mount line feels perfect and I wouldn't mount elsewhere. Landings are super stable as well. After lots of abuse, the bases have held up very well.

Rules Soft Snow

By: Backcountry.com Employee
December 18, 2008

The Moment Comi-kazi absolutely loves soft snow. It's best in untouched powder. The thing that impressed me is how well they skied crud despite the Soft to Medium flex. Once I allowed myself to just go with the flow in the crud these skis handled it. One word of caution is they hook up a little weird on hard snow and groomed terrain. But, my guess is if you are looking at this ski you are thinking about deep soft snow.

Clarification

September 16, 2008

I believe the above review and product description are looking at two different things. The tip is 160 mm wide, while the ski as 54cm of tip rocker.
