Metolius Safe Tech Waldo Harness

Do you remember your last hanging belay? Your buddy above you heading into hour three of an A3 lead while your legs fall asleep? Get the Metolius Safe Tech Waldo Harness to make your next wall a little more comfortable. With ½ inch foam padding on the 5 5/8 inch tall waist loop and 5-inch tall leg loops, this addition to the Safe Tech line will make your next big wall suffer-fest feel like an afternoon in a hammock. As with all Safe Tech harnesses, normally non-load bearing parts are beefed to provide every safety margin possible. The Waldo has five large gear loops to hold your massive wall rack and an extra belay loop to solve gear-clustering in this high use area. The Waldo is as safe and comfortable as a harness gets.

Write your question here...is there a harness set with the belay loop in the back, for Austrailian style descents? or zip lining?

No, these are all climbing harnesses with the loop in the front. However, Metolius harnesses have full-strength haul loops, so you could use it in a pinch. I wouldn't recommend it.

First, let's be clear - this is a beast of a harness...and worth every penny if you're going to spend significant time hanging in it. Besides climbing, I earn my living working around ropes courses. I recently spent 2 1/2 hours hanging in my Waldo while rebuilding a high ropes element & it was very comfortable!

Mind you, this is a large harness meant for big wall climbing. You'll look like a total dork if you wear it at the local gym, but your friends will look at you with envy on your next multi-pitch climb, belaying a couple hundred feet above the deck with a smile on your face.

Though not in stock, there is indeed an XL version of the Waldo. The waist size on that goes up to 42 inches, which is pretty hefty, so you should be fine.

This harness is intended for long, long climbs. That being said, the extra loop is just for extra organization of gear, ropes, etc while up on a wall for an entire day. That area of a harness can get a little crowded, ya know?
