Metolius Matrix Locker Carabiner - 2006

The Metolius Matrix Locker is the only true all-purpose locking carabiner from Metolius, perfect for building top-rope anchors, clipping crucial pieces, or using anywhere high security is a must. Unlike other shaped carabiners, the Matrix Locker's classic D shape makes it almost impossible to load the gate side on the major axis, which forces the load to align along the stronger spine-side. This stout little sucker sports an anodized finish that protects it from corrosion.

Good for everything but belaying

This ‘biner is great for just about everything where you need a locker, except belaying. Though it is made of round bar stock, the D-shape does not lend it self to belaying very well. They are also a little on the heavy side. For this reason, I like other lockers for long trad climbs or alpine routes.
