Merrell Scope Jacket - Women's - 2008

The Merrell Women’s Scope Jacket offers a full range of functional possibilities, minus unflattering bulk. A waterproof outer shell, built-in insulation, taped seams, and powder skirt make the Scope Jacket a fine option for a day on the slopes. For a cool-weather hike or snowshoe adventure, zip off the Scope Jacket’s hood, remove the powder skirt, and open up the Underarm zips for ventilation. Adjustable wrist closures and a drawcord hem won’t let the chilly air sneak in.

Bottom Line: Your most versatile winter jacket, in a compact form.

How heavy is this jacket (weight)? Would if be a good layering

How heavy is this jacket (weight)? Would if be a good layering jacket, or is the built in insulation too much. I want ti use the jacket as an outer layer for Nordic skiing.

It weighs a little over 1 1b. That's decent for an insulated coat such as this. With nordic skiing being the high-aerobic activity it is, I would layer with a long sleeve baser under 200 g weight. If you get cold easily though, I'd still go with this one.
