Merrell Chameleon Arc Mid Waterproof Hiking Boot - Women's

You have cute casual shoes that are functional and comfortable, so why can't you have day hiking shoes with waterproof uppers, stable construction, and eye-pleasing looks? You can, and they're called the Merrell Women's Chameleon Arc Mid Hiking boots. The nubuck and suede leather tops block moisture as the trail gets wet from snow melt and rain, while Merrell's women's-specific Q-Form EVA footframes combine air cushioning, firm padding, and soft pads to support your feet throughout your stride. The Vibram soles and 4mm-deep lugs handle slippery rocks and leaves.

Bottom Line: Support for summit-in-a-day adventures.

I have always loved merrell, but I have some issues with these

By:

I have always loved merrell and have bought them over other brands because of the q-form fit and the comfort in their shoes. I do love these boots, but... I started wearing them hiking around my mountain home and was loving them--they are comfortable like my other merrells. I did go on a long hike on rocky terrain about a week later and was forced by a dust storm to hike out quickly. By the time I got to my truck, my feet were killing me. I had sores on my little toes and big toes. I figured it was because the shoe is narrower than my other hiking shoes. I was disappointed because usually my feet are undestructable. I still wear them as my hikers and don't have any problems with my normal everyday hiking. But if you have a larger foot then I would order a size up. I also pair them with smartwool light hikers and think I would be better with a 1/2 size up to compensate for the bigger sock. They are good looking shoes! I haven't had any problems with the waterproofness, however, I haven't used them on super wet terrain. I have only crossed rivers getting them slightly wet on top with no problems. I would recommend them, but adjust size as needed as they are narrow-form fitting shoes.

I've found the traction isn't as great as it could be, and defintely sucks in snow, bu tthe shoes are great for my neuroma pained feed. I've gone through 4 pair over the past 4 years...and love them.

warning to break these in before a long hike!

By:
June 13, 2008

These are great boots, but I had read a number of reviews about Merrells that said they're ready to go out-of-the-box... no breaking in needed. Maybe that was too good to be true. The first time I wore them was on a difficult day hike and they got uncomfortable half way through- they were digging into my ankle/leg. I read an insert in the box that says the boots are designed to help correct your step, so that may have been my problem. Anyway, the second time wearing them, they were GREAT and I do like them. I've learned my lesson about breaking in boots!

I am considering either the Merrell Chameleon Arc Mid Waterproof

I am considering either the Merrell Chameleon Arc Mid Waterproof Boot (Women's) or the Scarpa ZG65 to do the three week Annapurna Curcuit in Nepal - which do you think would be better?

I love these boots. They look wonderful. They are so comfortable from the first time i wore them. I love the colors and the way it fits my foot. No sore spots on ankle. I recommend this shoe to anyone looking for a good hiking shoe/water and weatherproof.

mm alright...

By:

i am a young man with a rather small foot, so i chose these shoes for their waterproofness and mid high style. they are very comfortable, and despite the above review, they were good to go out of the box, for me at least. I took them on many extended day hikes and found that the "waterproof"ness was not all so water proof. I have also warn them snowshoeing and discovered that they need to be waterproofed. Other than that, they are relatively durable. Not quite worth the price in my opinion.
