Merrell Chameleon Arc GTX Shoe - Women's

If you need a trail shoe that'll give you waterproof protection on the trail, and that has a women's-specific, supportive midsole, look to the Merrell Women's Chameleon Arc Gore-Tex XCR Shoes. Merrells' Q-Form Midsole combines an air cushion with three separate zones of shock absorption and support. This system cradles your foot throughout your entire stride, from heel strike to take off. The Chameleon Arc Gore-Tex XCR Shoes' low profile cuts down on weight and won't strangle your ankles. The Gore-Tex construction blocks water while allowing excess heat to escape, and the Vibram sole provides traction as you breeze over wet leaves and rocky terrain.

Bottom Line: Conditions on the trail are always changing. The waterproof, supportive Merrell Chameleon Arc Gore-Tex XCR Shoes are ready.

Merrell Lover

Just not the fit that you expect from a Merrell. It probably has to do with the Gore-Tex and whether you have the time to wear them in before you go on a major trip. The tongue is very stiff, otherwise a great shoe

always a winner

i have exclusively bought merrell shoes for my wide feet for 6 years now. this is the first time I've ordered online and had no problems with size (as below). i had the moab and they fell apart more quickly than my last 2 pairs of chameleons. i'll be sticking with this line until they stop making them.

I've got pretty wide feet. I can usually go up a 1/2 size to get the width right. Do they run narrow or normal or wide?

I feel like they run pretty normal. They are really true to size, I am an 8.5 in street shoes and an 8.5 in these was perfect.

Good Boot

By:
May 11, 2009

These are good shoes, but need to be worn in before a big hike. I wear them with wool socks and only get blisters when I push it over 10-15 miles a day. The waterproofing is a major plus too. I wouldn't use them as river shoes, but they hold up beautiful in the mud and rain.

Well made shoes

By:
February 12, 2008

My review on the shoes is a bit limited. I ordered a couple pair of these shoes (in different sizes) and couldn't quite get the right fit so I ended up sending both pairs back. I did wear them out on a couple messy weather days and could immediately tell that they were well made shoes and offered good stability on less than ideal conditions. Just couldn't find the right fit.

"Broken in" comfortable on first wearing!

By:
April 18, 2008

These shoes felt perfect right out of the box. Mud season is pretty rough where I live and I've completely switched to wearing these in my muddy yard and driveway rather than my knee-high rubber mud boots. I can't jump directly in puddles, but my feet have stayed warm and dry despite my very muddy springtime outdoor activities.

Run Small and Stiff

By:
April 2, 2009

My wife had the Chameleon Arc Ventilator and loved them, but needed something waterproof. She decided to get the Arc GTX and hated them. We sent them back for the following reasons:
1. They run small. They were significantly smaller than their non-waterproof models.
2. They are extremely stiff. My wife couldn't get comfortable in them. She said it was like walking with 2x4s strapped to your feet.

Goretex? Vibram Soles? These shoes leak!

By:
May 27, 2009

I purchased a pair of Merrell Chameleon Arc Goretex shoes with Vibram soles at the end of August 2008 and have worn them mainly on sidewalks. Last month I noticed they were getting wet inside whenever it rained, which should not happen with the Goretex liner & Vibram soles. The cause of the water leakage turned out to be the wearing out of the Vibram soles including several significant holes. This is not acceptable in a shoe of this supposed quality & price. I contacted the store I purchased them from and they weren't prepared to do anything for me. Next I contacted Merrell twice through their Canadian website and they haven't responded to this problem. Obviously, I do not recommend buying Merrell shoes when they supply a substandard or defective product and poor customer service.

not recommended

By:

i am a merrell fan and decided to take a chance ordering on line for the first time. the shoes were 1/2 size smaller and did not fit. after returning the merrells i interviewed 2 distributers in honolulu at their shops, both warned me that each merrell will fit differently due to their materials. i would advise anyone to try the merrell they wish to purchase "in person" before ordering on line. in the end, because of shipping to and back (return) i ended up spending a pretty penny. also, i ordered this merrell because it was "waterproof". this particular merrell is not fully waterproof all the way as stated. this was pointed out by one of the merrell distributor i eventually bought a new model of merrells from.
