This repair kit comes with a tube of SilFix (liquid silicon), a small applicator brush, one Clean Tape patch, and one sil-nylon fabric patch for larger repairs. This is more of an emergency fix, not so much a long term patch job. If you are on the trail and this happens then it would be fine, but depending on how large the tear is, you may need two or three of these to patch it. I would look at someone local to fix the tear and then get some nikwax spray to waterproof the seam. This is a great on-the-trail repair kit. It will work in an emergency but that's about all.

Was able to nab the last kit they had!!! I own alot of silnylon and am gearing up for the AT. Saw a buddy patch his tent a couple years ago with this stuff and he says his tent is still rockin so I figured I might wanna nab one of these kits to store in my bounce box for the trail. Hopefully I won't need it but would rather have it and not need it then need it and not have it. Honestly, sitting here looking at it I just may even throw it my emergency kit in case I honestly do get out there and need it instead of having to hussle to the PO for a mail stop. It's tiny and leight weight enough. As one review noted, it's only for a single or few use repair so keep that in mind if you need a large amount of repairs.

Unfortunately not. Try to get the same type & color, if that matters to you, of material for a patch & have it professionally sewn on. Don't wash your bag until this has been done.

This is not a kit that you will use over and over or even for something bigger than a small repair job. It's pretty much got one of everything, but only enough for about 1-2 uses. In my case, it was the silicon patch repair. It comes with about a 2" round gray colored patch. I cut it to the size of my needs, and saved the rest. Definitely worth $6 to fix a $300 tent.
