The Maui Jim Wailea is the pinnacle of Maui Jim's ultra-light sport designs. The Wailea is part of the Maui Jim Titanium Sport line of sunglasses. Fashioned from a strong, flexible beta-titanium alloy and combined with impact-resistant polycarbonate lenses, you won't even feel the weight of the Waileas on your face. Maui Jim's exclusive CLEARSHELL coating resists scratches and scuffs, and like all Jims, PolarizedPlus Technology eliminates glare and UV rays. A polarized lens' primary function is to reduce glare—that is, light reflected from a flat surface which greatly diminishes color and contrast. A body of water, a windshield, and even an asphalt road are all notorious producers of polarized light. Polarized lenses are most useful when trying to see through these reflecting surfaces, like when fishing, boating, or driving. Maui Jim sunglasses feature one of the most effective polarized lenses on the market. They are lightweight, tough, and very stylish.
Bottom Line: Style for Hollywood; sport for the dedicated outdoor freak.
First let me say that I was born in the year 1951. What does that have to do with my credility writiing a product review regarding Maui Jim Sunglasses-absolutely nothing. Even in the old television shows I wached as a child,77 Sunset Strip (Kooky Kooky Lend Me Your Comb) or Hawaian Eye with Connie Stevens as a teen star, evrybody wore "shades" as we called them. Whether you were Sal Mineo or myself in Upper Manhattan, Sunglasses representa fashin statement that does not rely on age, the weather or your locale. I know Maui Jim products for quite a while and I have always felt that the determination to achieve quality and reliability and at the same te to create that Jimmy Buffet on the houseboat feeling results in their winning sales records. I started by revealing my age basically to let you know that I have seen products come and go for a long time. Stay with a winner, Maui Jim and feel fashionable and luxurious. Jay Adler

These are the most comfortable and lightest glasses I've ever owned. In fact, I sometimes forget that I'm wearing them. Most glasses I've owned become uncomfortable after an hour or two, but these never bother me, even when I take them cycling for three or four hours. The lenses are quite nice and do a great job under many types of light conditions. The only minor problem I have with these glasses is the hard case. It doesn't seem very convenient and it's sometimes tricky to get the glasses in and out without getting your fingerprints all over the lenses. Also, my online order invoice indicated that a free cleaning kit came with the glasses, but I received no such kit. All in all, super comfortable glasses, great optics, but the case is a little cumbersome for me and I was disappointed to receive no cleaning kit for a $250 pair of shades.
These shades are incredible - you've got to wear 'em to believe 'em. The last guys must have missed out on a free gift, 'cause I wasn't expecting a cleaning kit. The Waileas are lighter than light, with high-quality polarized and scratch-resistant lenses, and are practically indestructible (except for those nose piece things). The single downside is that they are hard to put on with one hand - really, they're THAT cool. Oh, and I think the hard case works well and looks nice, to boot. Cinco estrellas!
