Maui Jim Malia Sunglasses - Polarized

The Maui Jim® Malia, a contemporary new feminine frame, gracefully expresses the calm waters of Hawai'i. Relax and enjoy the protection of this finely crafted style. The high-quality lens combines PolarizedPlus® Technology and optically correct, distortion free vision with a carefully crafted frame. The polarization is perfect for cutting the glare from island waters during a surfside stroll or a long drive down the coast. A polarized lens' primary function is to reduce glare—that is, light reflected from a flat surface which greatly diminishes color and contrast. A body of water, a windshield, and even an asphalt road are all notorious producers of polarized light. Polarized lenses are most useful when trying to see through these reflecting surfaces, like when fishing, boating, or driving. Maui Jim sunglasses feature one of the most effective polarized lenses on the market. They are lightweight, tough, and very stylish.

Bottom Line: Style for Hollywood; sporty enough for the dedicated outdoor freak.

I have had a stroke behind my right eye. Sun & bright light is painful. Will these cut down on light & glare better than regular sunglasses?

I recently had Lasik surgery and my eyes are now pretty sensitive to light, my eye Dr recommended Maui Jim above and beyond all others because of their lens quality. I think most major brands are pretty good though, so go with what you like!

I have found that I love Maui Jim's lenses way better than Oakley. The clarity was amazing. i personally don't have any true light sensitivity issues but I have had two pairs of Maui Jim's and the lenses were the best to combat glare, and I definitely was more comfortable when it is really bright. I also noticed less reflection when wearing Maui Jim's over Oakleys. Hope this helps.

They might, but if you want to protect you eyes, I recommend going with Oakley. They have more options and better quality for the same price as Maui Jim._________Hi. I know what you're talking about. I had a bad bike wreck two years ago that smashed the right side of my face around my orbit. I had to have it rebuilt with lots of titanium plates and screws. So on top of extreme cold sensitivity, I have the same problem with bright, intense light. So to avoid the headaches, yes, I would go with a Polarized or Iridium lens, or a lens that incorporates both. If you Google both terms, you'll get a good understanding of the benefits of each technology. I agree with Barrett that Oakley has some very solid options and I personally wear Oakley, but if you like the look of the Maui Jim, I don't want to dissuade you. Good luck to you.

Maui Jim Malia Sunglasses

By:
August 7, 2007

Received sunglasses in great condition and with free shipping! Have owned Maui Jim's before and this pair has not disappointed me. Very clear view and fit is great. I recently had LASIK eye surgery and Maui Jim sunglasses were recommended to me by my doctor, even though I had already know about them. This polarized version of Maui Jim Malias had enhanced the clarity of vision that I know enjoy. Aside from my doctor recommending these Maui Jim's , they have also been recommended to me by a few friends over the years and their reputation is well deserved.

Ordering them from your website has been very good and the process went smooth! I also highly recommend using your website since the order arrived in great condition and quicker than I expected.

They DO have spring hinges (look in "Tech Specs" above) so they will flex out and not end up bent out of shape. Great shades!

They've got solid plastic frames, so they'll bend a bit, but they won't flex out.
