Marmot Whirlwind Backpack - 900cu in - 2008

While most compact day-hiking packs are nothing more than featureless sacks with shoulder straps, the Whirlwind Backpack includes Marmot's plush, well-vented AirFlow Frame System. No more sweating through your shirt when the temperatures start to rise. Marmot also gave this lightweight backpack a front organizer pocket, stowable mesh flap, stowable rain cover, and waist-belt pocket to keep things organized and within easy reach.

Bottom Line: Lightweight, fully featured.

whirlwind is killer

I've used this pack a bunch for day hikes and trail running. I'm pretty much sold on the Airflow technology - I like feeling a little breeze action against my sweaty back. Sure, this backpack is tiny - but that's the point. I can squeeze my Camelbak inside and keep hydrated or I can rock some water bottles and shove more stuff inside. (The water bottles in the waist belt pockets stay put with elastic cording that is cinchable.) The stowable mesh pocket is awesome and has come in very handy for wet gear or layers shed while on the move. The little pockets on the waistbelt are handy and stay zipped. The inside zip pocket is perfect for stuff you don't want to misplace (i.e. keys). I haven't had to use the rain cover yet - but I don't see how it could malfunction. If you like to carry a bunch of crap - this pack isn't for you. It's streamlined and super light. Love it.

Amazing!

First of all the pictures of this pack do not do it justice! It is far more spectacular and stylish than the pictures show. I received it only a few days after paying online and was very surprised. I'm still finding new pockets and hidden features on this thing...its awesome. It's light weight, perfect for running, and for its size it is able to hold far more than expected. I can easily hold all I need when running to work and back. It has two large pockets, many smaller ones, two designed for water bottles, a rain cover and many creative little features that allow you to hid all dangling adjusting straps. This pack would be perfect for anyone who is looking for comfort, style, and convenience. Oh yeah, and a lifetime warranty!

I would recommend going with a Camelbak Omega hydration bladder. They are very durable, reliable, and easy to clean. Copy and paste in web address bar:http://www.backcountry.com/store/CAM0158/CamelBak-Omega-HydroTanium-Hydration-Reservoir.html

Marmot has done it again!

At first I was skeptical of this pack. But the description and picture do this pack no justice. First of all the AirFlow on this pack is incredible. And it has the best zipper system ever. There are even two zippers at the bottom, one holds a flip out mesh style attachment for added stowage. And then another zipper opened up to reveal a complete RAIN COVER!. This was obviously when I fell in love. I don't think the description states that, so that was a huge surprise. The Airflow system takes a pinch off the total volume you can pack but it's worth it for a summer day pack or summit pack. This is an absolute winner.
