Marmot Twilight 2-Person Tent w/ Footprint and Gear Loft

Large double vestibules, two doors, and tons of interior space make the Marmot Twilight 2-Person 3-Season Tent a top choice for rainy days in camp. The Twilight Tent easily holds your backpacks, shoes, and other gear under the 21.7sq feet of vestibule space, and the steep end walls allow campers to sit up for an intense card game. Marmot used a clip pole system on this double-wall tent to make setup fast and simple because seconds count when rain starts soaking your gear.

Bottom Line: Make sure you have the Marmot Twilight Tent on your backpacking trip, so you don't dread time in camp if a storm hits.

marmot twilight 2 person

I received this tent in February and have taken it out on two weekend trips. The first trip was in late March in northern Missouri and I brought my two year old son and five year old daughter with me. We all 3 fit very comfortably. The weather dipped below freezing for a few hours overnight, but with proper cold weather sleeping bags we didnt feel the nip except for bathroom visits(numerous). My second trip was in early April at Paddy Creek in the Mark Twain Nat'l. Forest in the Ozarks. The rains came promptly as expected and I was able to test the rain fly and stakes as the winds were steady for a bit as well. There was no hint of moisture inside, the fly kept me plenty dry, and from inside I could hardly tell the wind was blowing at all. I really like this tent, and it seems to be perfect for warm weather, and works well in cold sprintime conditions as long as you pack a good quality sleeping bag. I really enjoyed viewing the stars at night throught the mesh top while drifting off to sleep, in fact...I would never have noticed the Bald Eagle 200 ft away in the morning if I had been using any other tent! You wouldnt use this tent in snowy conditions, but you wouldn't want anything else for the rest of the year. Excellent tent!

Marmot Twilight 2 person

By:

This tent is a great tent. Although it is 5.9 with the footprint and canopy....the extra weight is well worth it. I like that this tent has double entry. That way your travel companion can get out of the tent without waking you. The vestibules are huge. The color is cheerful...especially on those rainy days where you are stuck in the tent. I've had the tent on several backcountry backpacking trips since my purchase a few months ago. Each time it has rained and I have not been wet once. This tent is also freestanding so if you need to move it...no big deal. I think this tent kind of looks like a stingray when it is set up.....kind of cool ;)

Barry Blalock: The specs say the twilight has fully taped seams and a bathtub floor. How is MSR still better. Do you have experience with both of these tents?? I need a new tent and The twilight seems very appealing as it also comes with a footprint and gear loft and is less money.

The Twilight 2P is a fully seam taped tent so it is completely waterproof. Also the weight of 5 lbs 9 oz is with the included footprint and gear loft. The minimum weight is 5 lbs 4 oz (that's the weight of the tent, poles and rain fly)and is only 6 oz heavier that the Hubba Hubba. It also have 5 more square feet and is $90 less that the Hubba if you also buy the footprint. Both are great tents, just wanted to lay out the facts.

The Hubba Hubba would be more waterproof. Everything is seam sealed and the bathtub floor would keep you dry if you pitched this thing in a shallow creek. The ventilation is outstanding. If you get this and you ever wake up wet in the morning, come find me and I'll give you the money you spent to buy this tent. MSR dominates Marmot in the tent realm. Always has, always will.

I would like to say that this tent is nice, but it outweighs the Hubba Hubba by 2 lbs. You make the call.

rockin tent

Had this tent for about 6 months now, and love it every time I use it. It's seen everything from uneventful, warm, spring nights on the east coast, and torrential thunderstorms with hail in the mountain west plains of Wyoming. This tent is deceptively spacious. Two people is totally comfortable; two people and a medium sized dog started to feel like a real outdoor experience. Vestibules are ginormous, and keep all your gear dry and protected. The double doors are super convenient. Some friends and I went camping in a strong windstorm and people were practically bidding to stay in my tent. Sure enough, the other tent pretty much folded in half; the Twilight barely even shook.

Awesome tent

By:
June 22, 2009

I have had this tent for 5 years now and have used it all over Denali Nat'l Park in Alaska, the desert Southwest, Pacific Northwest, and camping in the volcanoes in Guatemala. It's one of the best overall tents I've ever owned. The pole construction and color coded grommets make it quick and easy to set up, and I really like the 2 doors and vestibules so that 2 guys can use it comfortably without crawling over each other getting in and out. The vestibules are also large enough to keep each person's backpack, shoes, etc., dry. The only drawbacks I have found are that it's hard to cinch the vestibules down really tight in high wind which means there is a little flapping going on and sometimes a little rain blowing in on one side of the vestibule, and that there should be a guy line on the bottom end of the rain fly to keep the fly well off the tent wall by your feet. I found I was getting some moisture by my feet on really wet nights, but solved the problem by putting in a grommet and guying down the end of the fly.

Spacious...

By:
May 16, 2009

If you are looking for a 2P tent that has plenty of space, this is it...
The spacious coffin box design and relatively high ceiling makes this tent ideal for 2 grown men - 5'11 and 6'11 - to fit nicely. (Especially because I like to sleep fetal or spread out. Double vestibules and double doors, makes it easily accessible for both parties to enter and exit in the middle of the night with out having to crawl over each other in mid slumber.

Great from day one

By:
June 18, 2009

From the moment I set this tent up in my yard I was very satisfied with my purchase. It was a breeze to set up, with poles that are both inventive and easy to get together and apart. The clip system performed flawlessly and makes set up a short process, which is great when rain clouds gather. I just weathered a June thunderstorm, complete with hail and a tornado warning completely dry.

The vestibules are big enough to fit small children into, although I'm sure they would work well for packs that are similar in size. But really, there was a massive dry area around my tent as the wind could not swing rain under the low, ultra-large vestibules.

The weight of the tent is maybe its only weakness, however, we fit six adults into the tent, and rather comfortably at that. So, this tent balled outrageous, and performed flawlessly.

The large mesh area gives an amazing view of the sky above and just makes sleeping under the stars a pleasure.

This tent is awesome, through and through. Easy to set up, quite dry and not too heavy. The D- Cut doors a sweet and with two of them its easy to get in and out. Loved this tent, and really look forward to using it again.

Order this tent just before a backpacking trip in Colorado. Love the way the tent is set up; the two doors and the two vestibules worked perfectly. It rain for several hours and the tent stop the rain great! There is a vast amount of storage in the tent also, over head gear loft and four pockets across the front. Definitely a great tent!

Great Tent!

By:
May 16, 2009

This tent has been awesome.
It has even held up in a surprise snowstorm. We had the right sleeping bags so we didn't even notice the snow until morning.
It is extremely easy to set up. One person can easily set it up in a few minutes. I set it up in a rain storm and had none of the panic of try into find the right parts.
The vestibules are just right to cover your packs and gears.
This tent is perfect for two, or it could be a luxury hotel for one.

Better have good sleeping bag

By:
September 22, 2008

The tent is great, you can set it up in just minutes and it is very easy to do it. very light to carry!
the only thing I would recommend is to have a very good sleeping bag, because you will need it to stay warm.

Marmot Twilight 2-Person

The hubbed uni-pole design is neat, you can't set up the tent wrong and probably won't misplace a pole. The tent breathes well and has o.k. vestibule space but due to the high point of the tent running down the middle the walls of the tent and vestibule are not that vertical making eating mesh when sitting up a distinct possibility. Nice overall tent.
