Marmot Ion Windshirt - Women's

Pull on the 4oz Marmot Women's Ion Windshirt to keep the wind and rain a bay on your next trail run or ultralight backpacking trip. The key to this incredibly light jacket is the water-repellent, wind-resistant, breathable Banshee nylon material. A single chest pocket on the Ion Windshirt gives you a place to stash snacks without adding undue weight. Marmot also added a hood to keep you from getting soaked if an unexpected rainstorm dumps on your trail-running parade.

Bottom Line: There's no excuse to leave the Marmot Ion Windshirt behind.

I am looking for a windproof jacket to wear during early morning

I am looking for a windproof jacket to wear during early morning cycles to work during spring, summer and early fall. I don't want anything too warm or anything that is going to stick to my skin if I get a little sweaty or if it is pouring out (I live in seattle- so chances are this jacket will see some rain). Any suggestions?

Great choice for wind resistance, light weight and price. It's water resistant, but not water proof. Steady rain will make the jacket stick to your skin. Marmot Crystalline is 7 oz, windproof and waterproof. It's a new fabric that's highly breathable and will work a lot better in rain than a wind shell. I've worn both on a bike and can't say one is more breathable than the other. I guess it depends on how much you plan on using it in the rain.

WTF, Willow?

By:
January 16, 2009

Everything about this jacket I absolutely love. It's great for XC with some Smartwool unders and a waterproof fleece. The only gripe that I have is that "willow" looks like a sage green, and it's definitely no where near that. It's a much brighter green. However, I don't hate it! It's still a great color, and is nice and visible in the backcountry.

Marmot Ion jacket- willow

By:
April 27, 2009

Got the Willow- it is more of a true green color, but still very pretty. Jacket is extremely lightweight and flexible. Kinda short for my liking (ends right at my hips), but I like jackets to be a bit long. I'm 5'2", 110 lbs and the XS fits fine- sleeves are good and long. Small is more comfy on me- just depends on how you like the jacket to fit. Haven't tested it in the rain yet.

It's 26.5" center back length (size med). It doesn't have much stretch factor to it but it's not sold on that either. Being ultra light and waterproof is this jackets main features.

Great Light Jacket

By:
February 4, 2009

I have this jacket in a size small in a silver color. I bought it directly from Marmot so that might be why there is less colors here. Either way regardless of this this jacket is great. It is very lightweight and fit me perfectly I am short around 5 ft 1 and it ended around my waist. I wore this jacket in class 5 rapids on a rafting trip in Costa Rica and it didn't rip once when I fell into the water. It is very durable and kept me reasonably warm in the heavy rain.
