Buckle the removable powder skirt around your waist, attach the hood, and wear both the removable insulated liner and the shell to your shredding sessions on the mountain. I am a skier in WY and I also ranch - This jacket held up in the 30 below weather riding a horse all day... now if only they made boots that could keep my feet warm warm like this coat did my body. Best coat I have ever owned hands down.

best coat i've bought, period

I got this coat two or three weeks and have since come to question how I lived without it. It totally stops all the wind that hits it, and water beads off of it like I've never seen before. I was working outdoors in the rain and snow the weekend after I got it, and the people I was with all had north face jackets and after about 7 hrs in those conditions it looked like their coats were soaked through, i'm sure they weren't, but my coat looked like it wasn't even raining. It's made me a Marmot believer.

Fare's very well! You can go lower with a little layering too.I wore this jacket in -13 F up in Stratton during the holiday break and I didn't feel a thing and I got freezer burn on my nose!

Just so you know... the liner of the shell, not the removable liner, is red. And unlike the picture shown on bc the main zipper of the shell is also red. I didn't realize this before receiving it but I actually like it better this way.

I'm pretty small - 5"7, 130lbs, ~36" chest and

I'm pretty small - 5"7, 130lbs, ~36" chest and 30" hip (i wear 29x30 jeans). I've tried on the North Face triclimate jackets (Shaka, Expansion, Vortex), and while the liner fit for Men's small, the shell were all gigantic for me. Does anyone know whether this jacket runs a little smaller/tighter than the medium-end triclimate series? Also, can anyone suggest any brands or specific snowboarding jackets that run tighter (i.e. athletic fit)? Thanks a lot =)

Steve,I'm 5'7", 175 and around 40" in the chest. I own the Gunsight in men's medium and I find the cut a bit on the generous side. Based on my experience my opinion is that the Gunsight is more of a casual cut.I'd also like to add that the jacket is top quality. When you put it on it feels as though you're being enveloped by a piece that will last for years of heavy action.

great jacket with everything you need

I just got this jacket for a ski trip I'm going on in January. It's single digits in the mornings right now in Kansas City and this thing it ultra warm with only a long sleeved Tee on underneath. The liner in thinner/lighter than expected, although it is warm, and they could've put some sort of insulation size description in the "insulation" details. I don't think this would have changed my decision to purchase though. The jacket seems to be of very high quality and my hopes are high that it will last and be a great jacket for a long time. Once I put it through the test on the slopes I'll give another review.

Personal preference on this one. I'm a bigger fan of Marmot, maybe because it's less of a marketing giant than TNF but they're both very similar in quality.

Incredible Jacket! Wind proof - Water proof - Cold proof. For as warm as it is, it's incredibly light. Design offers great arm-mobility. Happy with the construction - they didn't cut any corners. Pockets are well placed and warm.

Great Jacket

Doesn't look "high tech" (canvas shell), but very windproof and waterproof (so far). Liner is thin, but warm...I'd prefer liner to be a little warmer. Design detail (zippers, pickets, hood, powder skirt, etc.) is very good. Good fit (Large-I'm 6' 190 lbs), not restrictive or bulky. Long in the body...almost like parka (that's a good thing!).Colors are a little duller than shown online.

Bottom line, this is a very good jacket. Well made...outer shell should hold up very well over time.
