Marmot DriClime Vest - Men's

The Marmot Men's DriClime Vest will be your staple layer from early spring through the summer and fall. Lined with DriClime wicking baselayer all around, this Marmot core-warmer has a windproof Banshee nylon front and a DWR finish to shed light rain, and a breathable back panel keeps you from overheating. Perfect as a skinning layer for uphill spring tours, or as an outer shell for early morning runs, the DriClime Vest weighs just 8oz and packs small when temps rise.

Bottom Line: The DriClime Vest makes the perfect wind-blocking layer for cool conditions.

Lightweight Vest

By:
August 10, 2009

If you want a great lightweight vest, look no further. This vest is perfect for early spring and late fall when I need a little bit more than a long sleeved t-shirt to keep me warm. The driclime also works well as a light layer under a spring jacket, or even a ski shell. I wear it under my precip jacket when I need just a smidge more warmth.
The only thing that would make this vest better is if there was a little hole from the chest pocket to the interior of the vest, so that you could run headphones for your ipod through it. If you're creative and don't mind cutting a little slit in the pocket of your vest, that'd work to.

Great

I bought this vest to act as an insulating layer under my GoLite Element jacket, the vest fits well, looks good and provides toasty comfort whether hiking or sitting at the desk in school.

Survives Rocks and Gusts, Cleans up nicely

By:
October 23, 2008

Lightweight and surprisingly durable, the Marmot DriClime vest was a nice investment for my mountain gear. It blocks the wind and has a light layer of poly insulation on the interior (around the kidneys and up the chest). It is minimalistic in the sense that it bunches up into next to nothing, and when I tossed a bunch of jagged rock samples in my pack it came away with nary a scratch. The countless coffee stains cleaned up very nicely in the washing machine. It's not the end all be all of backcountry gear, but it is a sweet little investment to keep your body temperature up when the wind comes crashing down. It doesn't look too bad either with the token chest pocket.

It doesn't look like it has an internal pocket. I know that MH puts internal pockets in many of their jackets so you could take a look at their vests. EDIT: my new TNF Apex Elixir vest has an internal pocket. It also has two front hand pockets and a drawcord hem. Check it out. So far, it's been great and I'll post the review soon.

Light and compact

By:
August 15, 2009

This vest packs down small and takes up so little room in your pack. I had to return my size L because it was too short and too tight (i'm 6'0" and 190), but the material is nice. Probably not the toughest, but for the price if you find the right size it'll work great.

Great lightweight vest

By:

This is an ideal vest if you are looking for a light layer to wear under a parka or that slight bit more on a cool fall afternoon. The pockets are great and the vest wears well after several days skiing and snowshoeing. I readily recommend this vest.

nice vest at a great price

By:

unlike a lot of "windproof" fleece this has nylon on the outside and it really does stop the wind. I have this and the matching jacket, they are both amazingly light and compactable, fits in a small corner of my bag. Not super warm like a down vest but enough for a fall bike ride. Best it's only $60, look at comparable patagonia or northface, this is a steal.

First there was the wheel, then sliced bread came along. What came next? That's right, the Driclime Vest. Man I love this thing -- especially for aerobic pursuits in cold weather (25-45 degrees)! It keeps me "just right" as Goldilocks would say. I don't mind cool arms but I abhor an overheated core. You gotta own this puppy and add it to your arsenal. It's a must have!

Works well as a running vest!

By:
December 15, 2008

This is my first DryClime product. I ran on a breezy cool 25 degree winter day and it was perfect with nothing but a baselayer. The vest is very light and was as warm or warmer than my fleece vest because of the wind protection while being only half as bulky. It also worked well on a day with no breeze and displaced moisture so well it felt dry at the end of the run. It doesn't have as much insulating value as my fleece vest when I am standing around, but then standing around isn't why I got it. If you run in cooler weather it is a great piece to have.

Terrific price, packable, breathable, lightweight. Best combination of functionality, value and practicality I've yet to find on a backpacking/hiking style vest. My favorite, without question!

Not only does this vest make me look like even more of a badass mountain man tough guy, but it does a marvelous job keeping the heat in when used in conjucting with some long underwear, down jackets, rain coats, and their ilk. Awesome!
