Zip into the Marmot Women's Destination Jacket when it's raining cats and dogs. This long rain jacket provides waterproof full-length coverage for those days when you have to be outside in the cold and wet. Marmot's MemBrain waterproof breathable fabric holds the storm at bay while the soft-to-the-touch DriClime lining at the cuffs, neck, and chin keep you comfy no matter how muggy the day. Marmot made this rain slicker with a true women's-specific cut—not just a smaller version of a men's size. When the storm clears, ditch the Destination Jacket's removable hood and open up the zipper for a little extra breathing room.
Bottom Line: Don't let foul weather foul up you plans, take shelter in the Marmot Destination Jacket and get on your way.
Practical yet stylish. And the material (some new-fangled name that's as good as Gore-Tex, but has a different patent) is lighter than my old Gore-Tex rain jacket. However, it's truly about the cut, the length, and all the well-placed pockets. It's nice to not always feel like you're putting on your hiking jacket just 'cause it's raining. This coat is a bargain for its price!
It's a bit long for hiking and is intended more as an around town rain coat. If you are looking for a longer jacket for hiking you might check out the Marmot Skyline Jacket. It's 30" center back vs 37.5" for the Destination and this year's model is made from the highly breathable membrain strata fabric.
This is a beautiful coat. It's a really elegant cut, like a traditional trench coat. The length is perfect. I got this to serve as my main walking-around-town winter coat. If I wear a sweater under it it's plenty warm enough for just about any weather where I live in SC, and though it's waterproof it doesn't scream "raincoat." (I keep the hood off it most of the time.) It's very lightweight and has plenty of room to move. By way of comparison, I have the Marmot Furlong jacket in Medium (and can't wear thick layers under it), but this I got in Small and still have enough layering room.
Love this coat. It is stylish, waterproof, flattering as well as light in weight. The waist is taperd so you look like you have a waistline. I love the length as it hits just below the middle of the knee. I am 5"9" so it is nice to find a woman's coat that is long enough for me. I normally have to try to find a man's jacket to get a longer length, but a man's jacket is just not flattering. Would love to see this coat offered in more colors Since it is a bit more fashionable would love to see it in brighter colors
Typical laundry detergents contain fabric softeners, fragrance and color brighteners which are water-attractive residues—not something you want on the surface of your PU membrain. Do NOT use a liquid detergent!
Always use a warm wash/ rinse and it is very important to rinse the garment well. You can machine dry on LOW heat.
I looked high and low for a rain jacket that was long enough for sitting down in wet areas and stylish enough for city living. I love the Port color of the Marmot Destination Jacket, which I bought based on the stellar reviews. However, I disagree with the other reviewers about the fit. It might be great for a certain body type/height, but I would say this jacket is not for you if you are a size 2 or 4. I'm between 115 and 120 lbs (I fluctuate), 5'3", and this jacket was too big in the Extra Small. The shoulders are much too wide, and the body overall just has too much material in the width. If I used the waist adjuster in the back, it only bunched up and looked weird because of all the excess material. It also does not adjust very small. I tried wearing this over my thick wool peacoat and it was still much too bulky. I'm sure not everyone has this fit problem, but I wanted to send a warning out to other petite women. FYI, I do not have a "slender" bone structure or narrow shoulders by any means. I am medium to robust in my bone structure for my height/weight. It's nice-looking and functional, and I really wanted to love it, but it should fit a range of normal sizes for that price.
I had a London Fog raincoat with hood & liner that I loved. However, I went to a fundraiser for a friend who had cancer & someone walked out with my coat sans the liner. I've searched for a long time for a replacement that I liked as much. This coat's close. I'm a REALTOR, so I'm in & out of my car & homes multiple times. I need something that will protect me from the rain & still look good. This coat is great at that. The hood protects my hair and the soft fuzzy lining around the wrists & neck feels great. The pockets are big enough for my lock box key, cell phone, & keys so my hands are free to open doors, review property information sheets, etc. And the zippers keep things from falling out when I'm in the car. I love it.
This jacket is for colder wet weather by design; not suitable for warmer weather. If you like Marmot, get something in their "Precip" line that is simply a breathable waterproof shell, and then you can just layer beneath it for cooler temperatures.
I decided to return this, despite the fact that it is attractive, because it's just not long enough for me. I like a lower calf-length waterproof raincoat with a hood since I walk so much on my commute (to & from the train stations). This one barely comes to my knees.
This is great jacket. It fits well and keeps you dry and warm. i got it for a trip in April to Scotland and Ireland. As always it arrived quickly (backcountry.com doesn't disappoint!) plus it is highly portable and folds up into a reasonably small space. Buy it, it works!
I love this jacket. I first ordered it in Brown. It came with fleece lining. It is light but warm and excellent in rainy weather (absolutely water-proof with great hood coverage) I was so excited that I ordered it again in Black. To my dismay, the black one came without the fleece lining. It was just a rain shell. Use live chat and make sure you are getting a jacket with fleece lining as per the product description. If you do, it is a great jacket!
I'm looking for a casual but stylish jacket to wear around the village while on a ski holiday in Japan. Is this jacket very warm? I always wear layers underneath but I don't want any chilly breezes coming through the seams! I'm also looking at The North Face Insulated Grace Jacket..
It's really meant more to stay dry than it is to stay warm. However, if you layer underneath you should stay decently warm. I'm not sure what temperatures you talking about though, but if it's going to be pretty cold, you might want to look into that North Face Insulated Grace Jacket.
Okay, so it's a great coat. Excellent length but thinner than I thought it'd be - they weren't exaggerating when they called it a slicker. No warmth provided! FYI!
I just got this jacket in port. I love it. It will go well with casual clothes, but also suitable for work and going out (matches brown & black). I am looking forward to wearing it throughout the end of winter and into spring.
This was everything I was looking for to use on my trip to a very rainy and cold Ireland and Scotland in October. It was stylish enough for the cities and great for hiking in the country. It has room to layer under and kept me very dry and protected. The longer lenghth and hood are very functional as well.Great for traveling as it packs very small and light! The sizing was perfect, I am a 12 and ordered a large. I had room for a softshell jacket and/or a vest underneath.
This is exactly the jacket I was looking for. It has all the tech features of a good parka, but the style of an urban trench coat. It feels great to wear it. I love the long length, I'm 5'10", and detachable hood.
